Apparently i got a leak in which engine oil has gotten into the distributor unit...not really sure about the cause. All i know is that toyota quoted around $500-$600. Haven't paid for the parts yet...untill i know exactly what am gettin. Anyone has ideas as to what happen? As for the parts...is this what i should be payin?

goto mr2oc.com and lookup distributor repair kit.

Likely what has happened is the oring on your distributor has failed and is letting oil in. you can get a kit for $10 and fix it yourself quite easily....

Hummm....why would it cost me $566 CAN to fix something that is soo easy ....could it be more then just the o-ring? All they told me over the phone was "theres a distributor leak''.

Oh just thought u guys would like to know some interesting facts regarding Toyota OEM parts (quotes from a local toyota dealership):

1. Complete Kouki tail light set (lock cylinder and MR2 logo) $1100
2. Stock 98 MR2 spoiler (bare bone) $1300

Crazy how these parts cost sooooo much...

it costs that much because you are probably buying a new distributor.... Toyota does not make a kit to fix an internal leak as far as i know. The kit that i showed you was made and produced by an mr2 enthusiast...

yeah not much to the distributor, the only real area to leak is between it and the engine and a small internal oil seal.
