Eh,

I won't be buying a car until mid-2007, however I'm still currently browsing. A buddy offered me his 1992 Jetta in MINT condition (interior and exterior), with the exception of a tiny bit of rust under the rear passenger side door. He said he'd give it to me for $1,500 (CAD), which to me seems like a good price, though I don't know much about cars. Again, the interior is like-new, and the exterior the same with the exception of that bit of rust. It runs good and has no problems. The engine (rebuilt) has about 40,000KM on it.

Remember, I won't be buying it until mid-2007, and it is staying garaged until then. He occasionally takes it out for a drive, though.

Comments? What should I do?

old jettas are pretty nice, they are cheap to work on and are for the most part reliable, also what motor is in it

That car is clean. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Very good shape by those pics. Great starter/project car.

I would buy that thing in a heartbeat. My buddy had one for something like 10 years, he just had to put her down and we drove the shit out of it. I dont know much on the performance end but if you want a good car get it. You could suck up the $1500 somewhere and park it at your house, do work on it, and by the time mid-2007 comes, you'll have a pimp ride.

Think of what you could buy for it with all the money saved

Older VWs are ok but now VW has the worst reliability of any manufacturer...even shitty ones like Kia and Hyundai.
