1990 MR2 in US ?? USDM ?

Mr 2 ( turbo ? ) didn't come out here till 1991 .. but in japan, then yes, they came out in 1990.

Yeah .. slightly diff output .. but ... um ..

yes it is, it is the ecu that does it

i know C4s but this is straight from japan and its a 1990 apparently! either way i believe 1990's were created there. i just hoipe to god it comes with the LSD option in this way. either way its a turbo haha!

Yea, 1990's were never produced over here. JDM only I'm guessing. I think the 94+ JDM's were 245hp too

I'm thinking JDM put out more HP because of the octane ratings in Japan. If I recall, some Celicas put out 200 HP in Europe/Japan, but only 180 in Canada.

Koenigsegg CCX puts out 800 HP on US fuel, and 850 on EU fuel I think too.

I'm not sure if you'll get 220, because your ECU will detect that you don't have Japan/EU's high octane grades.

I'm not completely sure in MR2's case though though, might be something different with the engines as well.

Actually alltracs made 200hp
gt-fours make 225

Mr2's made 225-up considering the year of the vehicle (jdm models)
and i think in the states they make 200hp++ just like the alltracs. And the only difference between the 2 engines is the egr, and the ecu which is programed to run 98 ron octane, which is about 92 here in canada. Jdm ecus run a tad more aggressive then the usdm just because of the fuel

I should have been more specific. I meant 7th Generation 2000+ yr celicas. 200hp EU/JDM, 180hp North America

And yea it's mostly down to the octane ratings and ECU.

Actually, the MKII was first released in 1989 in Japan. I think all of them used a ceramic turbo (correct me if I am wrong, but ceramic = lighter = faster spool = less durable). Gen II 3SGTE made 225hp, Gen III made 245.

LSDs didn't really appear till 93 (not sure what year in Japan). But given that people in Japan usually go hard or go home, it's definitely not uncommon to find an LSD in a jspec car. Even though Jspec cars are usually low kms, you gotta wonder how many of those are drift kms...!

There are possibly at least 2 very illegal 1996's (both hardtops) in Calgary. Almost bought one. :nut:

Dont forget about the motorized fogs, mirrors, the front side markers buldge out a bit. I really like the jdm ct26 it spools quicker than the usdm one. Thing about the more aggressive timing is that you need to put in 94 octane which is impossible to find if youre in rural areas or anywhere other than Calgary, Edmonton, Van. Buddy of mine from Red Deer has to roll with a bunch of Octane boost..which doesnt add much for points but still seems to keep the pinging away.

Ideally yes, 91 octane would get you around town but just dont boost like crazy everywhere you go. With any turbo car, higher boost, plus advanced timing means that youll need a higher octane to get any longetivity and reliability out of the engine. I have never personally owned a jdm mr2 so I cant talk from much experience so perhaps a jdm owner could answer that question, Im just going by logic.
