View Full Version : Initial dyno of the H22/F20B turbo setup (XES)

Finally got everything organized and street tuned enough that I could head over to the dyno.

The runs were made at 12psi on 94 octane pump gas with the stock internal coil ignition. I probably could have leaned on it a little more and upted the boost, but i'll just wait until C16 is in the tank (this is my daily driver...).
Just thought I would update everyone on the progress. The car runs great and is much faster than with the old motor.
Surprisingly, power loss is not very high at higher rpms (earlier runs were made up to 9500rpm - nice and smooth with the F bottom end and short stroke).

It made 401whp and 307ft/lbs @ 12psi. :burnout:

I don't have a scanner, so I just took a picture of the monitor.

9500rpm is crazy. I felt like my motor was going to explode when I revved it that high.

is that a/f graph accurate? Possibly could do some more fine adjsutments to flatten out that line a bit.

What headgasket are you using if you don't mind me asking?

i was scared! i was watching the tach go to 9000rpm and i was thinkin in my head...OMG when is this guy gonna let off.....sooo scary LOL!!!

GET A NEW WIDE BAND and then you'll know what's wrong with you car!!! LOL :rofl:

What headgasket are you using if you don't mind me asking?

OEM h22a4 headgasket. I am using a 87mm bore piston (not the standard 85mm F20B bore).

Ah yes, that is definetly the way to go. I was thinking of building one of these beasts myself for my next turbo motor. Reduced side loads, rod bearing stresses, and increased top end power.. Whats not to like?:bigpimp:

Excellent job, you should post this stuff up on H-T in the prelude section if you haven't already.

The power and torque difference is larger than u think compared to my h23/h22 setup from last year. The extra 50-75 ft/lbs of torque and additional power (increased spool up of at least 500rpm) would definately help out at the track. An open deck h22a4 would probably be the best of both worlds (exactly why Papadakis and other racers have been using those for years). I had a free f20b at my disposal and the reliability from the stroke doesn't hurt ;)

Very easy (just open it up and cut away)...and if you want to bore it out also that would be a good time.
