Just a quick question:

I borrowed a buddies car (2006 honda civic si) which needed some fuel and i put regular fuel in it not premium fuel... :( I drove home before i realized what i had done.

Anyone know if the car will be alright or should i get the fuel drained?

You cheap bastard. hahaha.

So the civic engine is pinging now? If it is I would drain it...

Doesn't sound right though. ECUs have come a long way - if previous generations could adjust to compensate for lower octane, then these ones should be able to as well. Plus lots of people I know only put regular/mid grade into their cars that recommend premium. Honda should have already thought of this.

Maybe the gas station sold you bunk gas.

Naww the car sounds fine. I don't even feel a difference in reponse or anything.

Drive it easy until the tank is done. It will be fine.

or just stop at a gas station and pick up a bottle of octane booster, i used to sell it at CO-OP as a pump jockey when i acceidently filled mercedes and Bmw's with regular and the owners flipped :)

i'm not sure how well it works, or if it does work, but its worth a shot

Man i have left the car running for over one hour and the needle is still on full....lol...i just drove it around the block...seems fine. I did go buy octane booster and threw it in.

i would throw octane booster in it (NOS stuff from Crappy tire DOES work, my friend has a super'd durango, and it works if we cant get to a Mohawk (i think) to get the 94 octane

Is it blown cause otherwise there is no real reason to throw premium in there...

don't waste the gas, you'll be just fine. You'll notice that for optimum performance the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 91. That doesnt mean that is will break if you put less in, it will just provide less power, you probably wouldn't even be able to tell.

stay out of VTEC and you'll be fine. Dont WOT it either. 11:1 is to high for regular.

Once or twice won't do too much harm, no worries.

1. Octane boosters doesn't really do much. You'll go from 87 to 87.1 or 87.2 for the really potent shit.
2. The car will be fine, even if you beat the shit out of it. Manufacturers put in safeguards to ensure accidental wrong batch of gas isn't going to blow the car up.
3. Performance isn't going to be bad, since at 3700ft elevation if the car performs best with 91 octane, you can get away with 88 or 89 octane at Calgary's 3700ft elevation.

:werd:

I think our elevation is good for a couple octane points...

When I accidentally put 87 into my car it didn't start easily, I had crazy ignition lag and stuff like that and it ran horrible, took me a couple of days to realize what I had done.
