I just bought some new cats for my Z and I picked them up tonight. I didn't know this before I went, but the guy who sold them to me has the most powerful N/A Z in North America... 317whp!

I found this in the engine bay, I think EK had this in his sig:

Nah.

I'm enjoying a linear powerband for the first time in my life. It's rather nice to be able to mash the gas at 2000 rpm and not have to wait for anything and just have the car pull.

i hate that boost is better sticker. like why would they have a piston crossed out, was it designed for the rotory boys?

but NA is best. there is nothing like a high reving NA engine

nah piston crossed out because turbos dont like them, keep melting them ;)

uhhhmmmmm....no...

the piston represents bumped up Compression Ratio's....a must for hardcore N/A builds...not something you normally do for street driven Boosted Builds...

I beg to differ. Out of N/A, Turbo, S/C, I hate turbo the most. It was the least reliable engine out of them all, and sucked to drive. No low end power, terrible response, and it always felt like it was going to break down. I don't have much faith in turbo.

NA FTW

AllGoNoShow

You don't bump up compression ratio for NA builds.

Ask people who have been in/beside my old Regal, that was just a minor build, pulled hella hard and made ample power for a cheap build and that compression was lower then some of you turbo honda guys.

True. I found my bi-turbo throttle response really hard to get used to.

Most people who can afford a Z and build it NA can afford a turbo, they just have better taste, that's all.

Ya if its done right, im talkiing about guys that talk shit because they cant afford boost. I know it costs more to Do N/A properly, but the fact is that not alot of people i know do it properly, most guys go get a intake and exhaust and say that N/A is best. Thats all im sayin. Not tryin to bash.

perhaps for N/A cars to match power with a bolt on turbo kit....but if your going hard core na/turbo the bottom line should be similar but I'd give the edge to a turbo build. Your still buying all the same parts, just little variations here and there (ie. pistons, rods, headers....) Turbo guys still need money for a larger turbo, wastegate, intercooler, electronics....on top of N/A guys.

A stock spec v at best stock runs about 150 whp.

My car with a turbo kit runs 305whp at 10psi, and 275whp at 8psi.

The QR25DE has been built up by a few guys, but mostly for guys running 14psi+ on boosted apps. Built n/a blocks have yet to see over 200whp.

So yeah, n/a is good and all but it obviosuly depends on the application. You won't convince me to get rid of the forced induction anytime soon.
