that symbol you have as your avatar is used in japan to show that an older person is driving the car. the half yellow and half green one is for new drivers

what you are hearing is compressor surge.
this is no BOV, or a very tight BOV.
the air is trapped. the amplified sound is from the intake ducting on his inlet of the turbo (filter side)
it acts similar to an intake on an n/a car, amplifies the sound.
so instead of a quiet shutter you are hearing a yelping owl like sound from the turbo.
lots of people mistake this for a mysterious bov, but i can tell you from first hand experience, its just compressor surge from lots of boost, a long intake tract and no bov.
this is a vid of my old car with no bov

its not the greatest to your turbo, at least thats what most people will argue
this will not damage your engine.
some racing cars are set up with either really tight bov's or none at all so that they can lock up the most pressure and some people perfer not to vent out the pressure in between shifts.
i ran for 5+ years and used 2 different style bov's and after running no bov i've stuck to using no bov.
then again, my turbo is a dime a dozen and to replace it would cost me probably 25$ - so i have a bias oppinion
ive been running no bov and 10psi daily for 3-4 years on a junk yard turbo and no problems at all.

I actually enjoyed the bump,
=D sick race.
damn AWD gtr, Raped the s15 in that corner,
like come on!
it was quite comical, this totally changes my mind about course racing.
I actually wanna get into it now, especially driving with all these guys, hahaha.
and yeah, i've heard alot of things about surge, i've heard that it isn't great for your turbo,

Well its the compressed air trying to escape once the intake manifold closes. It goes back through the turbo, and makes it flutter because its trying to spin it the wrong way. Sounds cool as shit.

It's terrible for your turbo. Run a recirculated set-up if you wanna help spool during shifts.

its really not that bad.
do you have any evidence for this claim? do you know someone personally that ran no bov and had his turbo explode?
the video in this thread shows a street driven supra with a jgtc style setup and runs no bov, and it seemed to have no problems.
and also, recirculated setups do not help for spool, they are mainly for emissions, and they wont spool the turbo much.
they are routed to the air inlet, which is not the inlet that creates the spool.
grab a turbo and shoot air into the air inlet side of the turbo and tell me how fast the turbo spools
