My allergies are really bad, and I've been using Claritin but this year it's not helping at all. Can anyone throw me some suggestions as to something that is alot stronger?

Go to the doctor, you can get this nose spray that works really good. There is 2 kinda that I have had Nasonex and Nasaflo. They work good, but are prescription only.

Never heard of a nose spray for allergies, but definately worth checking out, thanks for the tip!

Every year I buy every single brand of allergy pills. Each year it seems like I get immune to one and one of those other ones will work. Trial and error!

The last 2 years though I have yet to buy any allergy pills. It seems my allergies have mostly disappeared ever since I installed one of these bad boys in my house:

What are one of those units worth? I was looking at HEPA filters too, not sure what to get yet.

I used Nasonex spray the past couple years worked pretty well... This year I used Aerius.. Awesome stuff, well worth it.

I'm also getting allergy shots too though, so that probably helped a bit,

Something like $800 installed or something, can't remember. Massive unit that I have to clean out a few times a year.

Do you still have to dust your house? Actually do you have to dust as often?

rage2

Dusting a lot less. Probably cut dusting down by at least 1/2.

the Dr. prescribed Reactine :nut:

I'll probably go back and ask for the allergy shot program because that cleared me up for at least 5 yrs last time I took them.

:werd: that is the best, ive had allergies all my life, and alegra D is the best, one pill in the morning and im good to go till next morning but you can take up to two a day

ALSO

get a hepa or some sort of air filter...works wonders, i would suggest a sharp plasma cluster for your room, youll sleep at night and NO dust (well almost)..runs around 300 bucks at futureshop.

Nasonex works for me, too. It's suposed to be a steroidal spray that is non habit forming. You have to remember to spray everyday, because it benefits are not instantaneous like a .habit forming decongestant spray.

BTW, a home remedy that might work great is a humidifier by you night stand.....right next to something that cleans the dust and pollen. You need at least one place where you can relax, and not suffer from your alergies, right?

Try Aerius.

I've had allergies for about 8 years now, I've tried many products but this one definately works the best for me. I'm a contact lens wearer and most antihistamines will irritate my eyes too much to even wear contacts.

With Aerius, I'm able to wear my contacts comfortably and continue with my day without worrying about allergies

Get Eltor... it's prescription strength but you don't need a prescription.

It'll be in a white and orange box...

Try reactine extra strenth or benadryl. Benadryl may make you sleepy though. I was having crazy nasal allergies and i went to see my family doc. he gave me a prescription form of reactin - 20mg pills to be exact so it's like a double dose of the extra strength 10mg pills. Only thing though was it made me sleepy too. I cut the dosage down to 15mg and it was fine. Another thing to try if it's nasal/sinus allergies is the nasal sprays like flonaise and nasonex. that stuff cleared me up too.

Aerius is very good, however it is slow acting and it takes a few days of dosage before you get the full effect. Definitely worth trying.

Use Actifed. I use it whenever my allergies act up and it will clear everything up, it will knock you the HELL OUT though. Split the pill in 2 and just take half if u need to take it in the daytime.

I did allergy shots when I was a kid...sucked bad. My allergies are probably worse than they were when I was younger.

I find just switching up allergy meds seems to help, along with the netti pot I have been pretty good, even when I went home to Ontario where my allergies seem to get worse with the dampness...didn't get sick for the first time in years. Normally upon arrival I am sick within 24 hours of touch down.
