I'm so confused. I've Google'd for reviews but I keep finding some that say it's a horrible, useless car, and some saying it's an amazing car.

I've got a deal set-up to buy a 1989 Crown Victoria for $475. I love the way it looks, especially the chrome rims that are being included with it. The exterior is in amazing condition and the interior is pretty decent as well. There's a tiny bit of rust but that's all. It's at 320XXXkm right now but the owner says it runs great and will continue running great for a long time.

Engine Specs:
-5.0L V8
-3 Speed Automatic with overdrive
-0-100 in 12 seconds
-320xxx km's
-New Muffler
-New Oil Filter (Regular oil changes)
-New Air filter
-New Drive Belt

Exterior Specs:
-Very clean
-Little rust
-New Headlights
-Flat Black Paintjob
-Chrome Hub Caps
-Hood Pins
-Vinyl Top
-Headlight stone guards
-Needs new tires

I really love the look of this car and the price. Should I buy it? Is it just going to die on me in a few months or do you guys think it should be reliable for a few years? I don't know much about cars, really. This is my first car, so please help. :)

Also, since my initial budget for my first car was $2,500, I'm willing to put a lot of money into the esthetics and performance of this car. Keep that in mind as well.

Yeah but how long do you think it'll last me? Like, a few months, years?

and to top it off its a ford.

Look around theres thousands of cars that go on sale there every day.

but if you really like the car and are willing to face the problems that it might come with go for it. For close to 500bucks its a good deal ...who knows it might go to 500k without having a single problem

Let's put it this way, if it craps out next month, you only lost $475 and not $2,500. From the pic it looks great, can't tell you anything other then that. If you're really horny about this car, get a buddy or a mechanic to check it out for you, and with a 5.0L V8, have fun paying for gas.

I think it'd be great - the 5.0L's are pretty basic, not much to go wrong with them, and you could modify the hell out of it if you wanted.

For under $500 you can't really go wrong. It looks like a decent enough car for the price. If your worried about the car lasting, maybe drop $100 for an inspection. Those Crown Vic's were used a lot with fleet's (Police Cruisers, Taxi's, rental's) etc so the replacement parts support shouldn't be too bad.

See, here we go again! :P

Half the posts in this thread tell me to buy it, and half of them say it's a peice of junk. Hella confused. When I go to take a look at it (I'm taking the train to Calgary in a few weeks) I'll be bringing a buddy who knows just about everything about cars. I guess I'll go by his opinion.

Dude, you need to know the value of your own money, but for 500 i would be willing to take a chance on a car.. get it mechanically checked out if that helps

but if it checks out and is ok, buy the thing.. its 500.. what if you have the same problem with a car worth 2500.. now your out 2 more g's

By the way, i hope those arnt the Chrome "rims" you were talking about in the photo

imo you will regret it. It'll be a pig on gas, and even for 500$ you can get much better cars.

I would never buy that car, even for $500 unless I wanted it for fun/destruction derby. If I had to live with that every day and it's gas consumption from day to day I would rather take the bus. Just my opinion.

If it was me I would buy it.

5.0L v8's = EASY to rebuild if you do blow it up but they are very reliable engines as well fi maintained. Guys putting major power through them and still last, stock.

Another good thing, 5.0L Ford = one of THE most common modded domestic engines. What does that mean for you? Wanna go fast, goto your local parts store. Anything engine wise for a mustang, will most likely also fit on your Crown Vic, same engines just different bodys.

God first car, cheap, reliable, mediocre on gas, strong as hell *when u hit shit u will do more damage then recieve*

$500 ...buy it, drive it, and if it blows up donate it too the Diabetes Foundation for the $200 tax receipt ;)

You can't go wrong!!!
