I know of the Mazda 5, the Ford Freestyle and Nissan Pathfinder(2005?-2006) any more suggestions? Anyone on here drive any of these vehicles? Impressions/opinions? Advice?Recommendations?

This is primarily for me and my family(myself and the gf+2 young kids) and occasionally(well seems to be more than usual lately) 2 more adults(kids grandparents/uncles/aunts) so third row seating would be ideal in our situation.

Personally, I think RAV4 or Mazda5 would be the best of the bunch.

And Honda may release Stream in NA in near future. It's base on Civic and carries 6/7.

RAV4 has third row?

I like the MDX but the price is out of my range.

My sister has the 5 GT. I like it. Same motor as the 3, but it's been tweaked a bit for more use-able torque. The styling is very nice and the inside is pretty roomy. It'll seat 6 comfortably.

Mercedes R- Class is probably the most comfortable 6 seater I've ever been in, but if that is unreasonable (given it's price, it's probably unreasonable for most people) you won't find a comofortable rear seat for anyone but the smallest kids unless you get a van or full sized SUV. The Nissan Armada has the best utilization of seat room of any big SUV I've been in. The Pilot would be a great car but the back seat is pretty small.

The pathfinder keeps winning all of the comparison tests and is no doubt an amazing SUV. If your kids are always going to be the ones in the back, it would be Pathfinder, then Pilot for my #1 and #2 choices, and probably Acura MDX 3rd but it doesn't have as much room.

It's too bad you aren't interested in a van, as they have the best space/comfort/practicality out of pretty much any other vehicle. Alot of people don't like having a "minivan" I guess, but something like the new oddesey or sienna would be worth a look if you aren't set against vans.

All of the choices you listed are pretty good IMO except the Ford Freestyle - It's gutless, IMO ugly, and gets very average reviews.

I like the idea of the 5 but don't really like the fuel consumption posted.

Odessey: 12.5/8.5 L/100km
5: 11.2/8.3

So you save only 10% around town and almost no saving on highway but you also lose passing power of a V6. I may as well get an Ody.

Now if the 5 drop to 9/7, I have no problem getting one.

How about a used Volvo XC90? A bit pricey, but very nice.

Because their probably the cheapest built SUV's out there and I'd take about anything else instead, their full of super cheap plastic, etc. :thumbsdow They always lose the comparison tests too. Just my opinion though, not trying to start anything. What did you think of the pathfinder and mazda 5?

BMW X5

are you SURE about no vans? The new Oddesy is so nice inside, with windows that roll up and down on the sliding doors, the interior is comfy.... If I ever have kids (haha, thats funny), I would get an oddesy.
