Does anyone know whats the deal with the EJ20 subaru motor?

Specs and info.....

From my understanding, it is a JDM motor out of the old WRX's and Legacy RS's (as opposed to the 2.2L turbo in the USDM Legacy RS)???

hmmmmmm. This is the 2.0L turbo motor around in JDM spec in the early 90's i think. It might be the same code as the nowadays USDM 2.0L T WRX motors but i dont think so (well i hope not as that would make things complicated)

Legacy RS what the??

EJ20 is the wrx engine, overseas or north american. I'm sure there are different varients but they're all EJ20's.

and there's no 2.2L turbo in the current model lineups.

There was earlier in the legacy turbo wagons though.

There are also 2.2 and 2.5 NA engines. both EJ's

ok. Im just tring to gather info on earlier EJ20's then.

In the JDM or ADM (liberty) the Legacy RS had that motor i believe. Not here though (as usual)

OLD Legacy RS's (89 to 92 I believe) had a 2.2L turbo engine.

Earlier legacies in north america had an EJ22, which was the 2.2L, some turbo and some weren't. It doesn't matter what the country of origin of the motor is, where or when it was built, they are all EJ series motors. And to complicate things further, subaru doesn't use any codes to differentiate between the 300hp monster EJ22 from the 22b STi or a naturally aspirated 2.2L out of a regular legacy, or a single overhead cam EJ25 and a dual.

Here are the specs for an EJ20 out of a STi Ver. 3:

Turbocharged, Intercooled Flat 4 (Closed deck, all subsequent versions were open deck designs)
4V per cylinder (16 total)
1994cc displacement
280hp @ 6500 RPM
240lb/ft of torque @ 4000 RPM
Bore: 92mm
Stroke: 75mm
Redline: 7500 RPM
