The Gates Foundation does good work. Probably better to give them such a lump sum then splitting it all up and giving little chunks to little organizations that do the same thing.

Guilty conscience for invoking the war clause? Cutting jobs?

Why are all the filthy rich guys such bastards? His way of cleaning his "slate"?

Im not sure that is amazing or generous. The guy is 75, couldnt spend a fraction of that money if he tried. Its really not of any value to him. $30B is way more disposable to a guy like him than even 50k is to most average income families.

Of course it isnt bad, but its not like hes left with any less than he had or made any sacrifice whatsoever.

And what kind of self-serving motives cause you to name the "biggest and best" philanthropic organization after yourselves? :)
