Ok i got a new system... got it all set up ....used my old 40 gig maxtor with my windows install on it.... started and it would give me a error after trying to boot off the hard drive.... so i did FIXMBR and FIXBOOT and the hard drive started up and worked fine....and works fully...now i have a 140 western digital(from my old system again).... and that doesnt have a windows install on it so no fixmbr no fixboot.... it gets recognized during the start up and in the bio but it doesnt show in "my computer" but it IS listed in "system devices" and when i check it it says its a dynamic disk and it cant be read...

anyone have ANY clue what to do as i dont believe teh hard drive is damaged AND it has 130 gigs of my crap on... and all my pornography...

help a sad lonley...very horny man

so ur trying to boot off ur 140 WD but it doesn't have anything on it?:dunno:

just boot of an xp cd, create a partition on ur 140WD, then install away

i'm surprised u even got it to work with a hd that's previously installed using completely different hardware

Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management

Open that and in there it will show you all drives attached to your computer. Sounds like your drive just doesn't have a partition on it or does not have a drive letter assigned

Definately check out the disk management. Hopefully there something in there that will help you out.

Try testdisk: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
It has saved my ass twice now. Restores corrupted partitions, and all your files on them.

hrmm sorry for my lack of english skills heh...musta been really tired when i wrote that.... no im not trying to boot off the 140... it was a storage H.D. i had... and i cant assign a letter to it because it wont let me... it says there is nothing on it.... but im going to try test disk and someone else told me to try "easy recover pro" which will make a boot disk for me and try to recover everything on the 140... *shrugs* i just feel like if i could use fixmbr and fixboot it might work...*shrugs* im a comp noob... and have been for YEARS
