Hey, I'm new to all this car stuff, I'm only 14 yrs old, so I'm wondering if anyone can help me.

I was checking out my dad's new car, and I found a Purple port under the steering wheel. (near the clutch). I think it can hook up to a computer or something.

Any info?

I'll post a pic of it in like 15 mins.

Thanks,

Jesse

That would be your ODBII port for diagnostics

If there is something wrong with your dads car, for example a check engine light, you can plug in a computer with the right software and it will tell you what is throwing the check engine light, or your can turn off the light if it's nothing or something like a bad tank of gas.

Not free. The software should come with cable. Or you could buy a scanner.

It's called a VAG-COM

You need a laptop, software, and a cable. You can screw around with your car settings with it. You can disable shit like the automatic door locks that lock when you get up to like 15kmh and can track/change a whole ton of other shit.

Google it.
