lol, I knew this was going to happen...after the fast and the furious movie coming out...oh well I drove a sklvia once and it was not hard to get it to drift...skylines are also nice...even a mr2 is a possibility...a 240sx is a money pit unless you got alot of money in my opinion...had a couple of budys try it but things just break because most of them are like 15 year old cars....

Nah it is the cars that are 15 years old and that have 250,000 kms on them that people think are "nice cars". You need to realize there are a few 240s in calgary that have just over 100,000 kms on the body. It is possible to find a good one, but you'll pay through the ass for it.

my honda civic has a drift handle that comes stock, or you can get yourself a ford mustang with an rb swap, (apparently 2 days, 4 friends, a mig welder and a fat dude is all it takes) or you can find a smashed up 94+ supra at a junkyard, or a dusty unwanted 00+skyline at a dealership, go nuts

this is the stupidest newbie post to come along in a while, i knew this would happen,

btw: just watched the original movie today, how the hell to you have a nasty hull, adust the milliseconds between the nos timings and run 9's (on a sentra too) :dunno: it doesnt make sense to me

if you can do upgrades yourself, or are willing to learn, go with an older turbo Volvo!

rwd, sitff body, easy to upgrade, almost 50/50 weight distribution, wagon's especially are like 51/49 or sumthin crazy, stock

they're easy to get sideways that's forsure!

:werd: Mine liked to get loose. Just add a rear sway bar to it and it would break loose without much effort. I really need to buy another one. 15psi on stock internals, intercooler and piping FTW!!

You can't. Half the stuff they say in that movie, they say it really fast so people don't even pay attention cause it's false. Also, it's a 97-99 Maxima, not Sentra.

hey why dont you buy a bicycle

its RWD, great weight distribution, easily modified, very low maintenance.

and with enough force on the rear brake and the right turning skills you can easily master in the drift realm and be known as the next DK.

You can also put some slicks on and go dragging.

Typical american made movie.....

Good old apple pie and baseball country boy gets in trouble wit da law ya see and they punish him byb sending him to Japan where he hooks up immediately with the car racing scene and Japanese mafia.

Then he learns how to drift like a pro by beating up on numerous tuned japanes vehicles and the owner doesn't care because he "sees something" in this oklahoma kid that can't drive.

Long story short, he uses an american car with a japanese power plant to (keep everyone happy) to beat the best drifter in Japan with 2 weeks of training.

The realism is like, unbelieveable. Of course if you go to these movies for the killer story line, then you also believe that pornos have great plots.

Some nice cars in this one and some great driving by whomever was actually driving those cars and it's worth seeing it if you like that kinda thing. At least it was better than FNF2.

I wish they'd give up on the pulling 180 degree turns though and driving backwards down roads. I hate it when they do that.

/off topic.

The drifting done in fnf3 is done by Rhys Millen, he was mentioned in the "making of" spots on tv. I think he did a really good job, he used the orange and black RX-7 in the scene where Han and the American kid drifted circles around the R33, as well as when the Mafia guys chased them through Tokyo untill the crash scenes. Nice images of some well staged and shot drifts.

He also drove when the 350Z drifted up the parking lot ramp.

Although, I don't really see how this is relevant to the Tokyo Drift showdown that's about to happen.

1986 Western Star

LSD rear end
no front brakes

start in 2nd, shift to 5th, tap brakes, full throttle.

all you need is a good lsd (2 way is better than a 1.5 vlsd), a car that has enough power to put her sideways, some $25 tires in the back, and some seat able to keep you from flying out of your seat.

if it was up to me to build a drift car, i would stick to my s13's and ceffy's

ok just to clear something up, you can only drift RWD vehicles. What you attempt to do in a FWD car is E-brake slides.

A good way to look at it is: FWD drifts are like transvestites. They may look good and trick you into thinking its the real thing but it is DEFINITLY not.

GTS JEFF vs. CANADIAN SKYLINE Tokyo Drift off FTW!:hitit:

Nice thing however is it is a money pit util you have everyhting replaced :)

Nissan is known for producing vehicles drift-worthy such as the Silvia's, the 350 & even RWD Skyline's, Toyota had its share of the limelight with the Trueno, MR2 & the Supra. But I'f I had 10K to spend on a vehicle, I'd have to go with a old 1986 RX-7 (FC)

Other than that, I bow down to the power of the 2JZ-GTE and the 4A-GZE

In drifting its the job of the rear car to keep up to the lead car and try to pass. Its the job of the lead car to try and make a gap between him and the car behind.

Picture 1: Skyline is hard inside on the volvo and looks to be making a pass. Even if the skyline isnt passing, he would still get the win because he's so tight on the volvo. Skyline is also carrying a much tighter/better line.

Picture 2: Skyline is once again TIGHT on the volvo's ass end coming into a corner, also looks like the skyline is going for the pass, volvo cannot get away from the skyline. Obvious advantage to the Skyline.

Picture 3: And again the skyline is passing and has a WAY better line through the corner.

Picture 4: Skyline passing with better line.

In those pictures the volvo did get undressed by the r32....simple as that.

Tha VZA
07-03-2006, 07:04 PM
well if you say so...to me that's just drifting better, but not undressing, undressing would be the volvo spun out into a wall and not keeping up

So you are as good as any professional drifter out there? If not, stfu until you are. I dont want this to turn into another thread arguing drifting's credibility, but the sport takes a lot of skill. Even if you do call it the figure skating of the automobile world, are you saying figure skaters have no skill?
