Your ticket will never say how many demerits you'll receive. There is standard levels set by the Highway Traffic Act. If I remember correctly 1-15km's over is 2 demerits, 16-30km over is 3 demerits, 31 - 50 km's over is 5 dermerits and if your caught doing over 50km/h the posted limit it's a 90 day supension of your liceince and an automatic date with the Judge.

You can look up the common demerits on Points website. I would go to the PA and try to get the ticket reduced or get the points takening off. You also might want to do scearch as they has been a lot of posts on this stuff...

Photo Radar - No Demerits.

Laser Radar and singled out, then yes, you get demerits.

Its photo that you don't get demerits.
Radar you get the cop jumping out of the bushes and write you up a ticket.

Close, but not quite.

1 - 15 = 2 demerits
16 - 29 = 3 demerits
30-49 = 4 demerits
50 = 6 demerits
51+ = mandatory court appearance

Unnecessary slow driving = 2 demerits! hehe

The sweet spot! I drive at this speed, so if I get a ticket, Poiints (or yourself) can easily get it reduced to no demerits.

If it's a 4 demerit ticket, it'll get reduced to 2 demerits. If it's a 6 demerit or mandatory court appearance, it'll be reduced to 3 demerits... so aim for 3 demerits! Best bang for the buck! :D

although you get no demerits, doesn't it still show up on your driver's abstract as a ticket and can affect your insurance rates?

I don't think so, I believe they knock it down to basically a photo radar ticket. I can't remember what it's called (there is a term) but they give the ticket to the registered owner of the vechicle but they don't assign demerits directly to the driver.

It will still show that your vechicle was assigned a ticket on your drivers abstract but the insurance can not raise your rates because they can not prove it was you driving the vechicle.

Poiints is a major Rip off.

All you have to do is go to the court on the day it tells you to be there @ 9:00 am. Before anything happens, they call you up one by one and ask what you would like to do.

Tell the nice lady that you want reduced demerits. Usually she will reply OK, how about I reduce the fine to $65.00 an 2 demerits.

Done deal and its only 10:00am

It doesn't show up on your DRIVER'S abstract at all. It's called a registered owner's ticket (like you said). A cop I spoke with says there is a record on it on your car (maybe registration?). Anyhow, I've never printed that out, nor needed it for insurance purposes, so it don't really matter.

PM me. I have someone who works on the inside. Much cheaper than points. No demerits, but you still have to pay the fine.

Yeah for the 300$ or so points will cost you it is worth it. I had a huge ass ticket and points managed to get me completely off.

I'd say if you get the court appearance that they won't be reducing much for you. Don't forget that the cops can, at their discretion, hand out a negligence charge as well as the speeding if you are going fast enough.
