Hey does anyone know a place which has something like a dummies guide to installing osx on an xp machine? ie) the os x86 project.

I had a look through their forums and the wiki but I still have no clue what the heck you do. PS. I'm not all that familiar with partitioning hard drives / or using dos, etc.

if you don't know how to partition HDDs, use DOS etc... don't even attempt it.
