Bought my body online, and I get my lenses and accessories at The Camera Store. I also consider BH if I'm not in a hurry and it turns out to be cheaper.

Bought mine from a store in Toronto, online.....but if I had to buy locally, it would be from the camera store

either:
The Camera Store 234-9935 11th ave and 7th st SW
or Vistek 244-0333 10th ave and 12th st SW

I've been treated very good at both places so I recommend both

I don't much care for Saneal personally bujt some people do:dunno:

I haven't shopped at Nova in years so no idea there

I've dealt with Don's on ocassion but they haven't proved to be as reliable or knowledgable as The Camera Store and Vistek

If you do buy from Don's they have a store in Saskatoon, don't know if that makes a difference though.

Motion Picture and Sound in Saskatoon are good, Phase Two seems a little iffy (they couldn't answer simple questions)

the camera store definitly has lower prices. (at least for the cameras im considering)
I dont really want to buy online, I like seeing the camera first. :dunno:

The Camera Store gets nothing but praise from me. Their staff totally kicks ass and are very knowledgeable. I've never been let down there.

Not so much with Vistek, but they're okay.

Nova doesn't really have that much of a selection.

I've only been to Don's a couple times, but they were pretty friendly.

Nay on Saneal.

I've had a lot of success buying gear on eBay and Fred Miranda. Just make sure you're buying from somone reputable.

I buy my gear from my dad. Photo Experts down in TD square. Free plug :D.

Tell him you know the guy that owns beyond and he'll give u the bottom line pricing without haggling. He knows his gear pretty well.

Not to mention he also has the AGFA D-LAB at Photo Image 2000 which pumps out the best quality of photo prints in calgary.

How will I recognise your dad? I need a SB600 next week, and any sort of good deal would be a godsend!

So, should I mention you by name, or refer to you only as "the guy who owns Beyond?" ;)

So does that mean if we goto TD square and say we're from beyond and Rage2 sent us, a person such as myself could get a digital rebel for less than 1000. because i would like to snag one around 8ish. i'm a dreamer though.

I can! I've saved money even with shipping, etc compared to what I would have had to pay in Calgary.
To avoid a large portion of duty charges mention it's a gift when you order it.

Well, yeah I guess when you order the big $$$ items it definitely does work out. I just find I'm always in need of smaller, cheaper items and accessories that aren't available locally (or even within Canada) and have to wait until I can come up with other things I can order with it to justify the purchase because of shipping.

Right now, the $15 shipping isn't cutting the $20 item I'm wanting! Haha!

I Agree with graham on this one
You can save alot at BH, your looking into major items. bodies, glass (main equipment) On average for lenses they come out 100.00-150.00 cheaper if you import from BH
with shipping (gotta do it express though)

As for small stuff your not so much, as derrick has said.

Looks like I can't make it to DTP Edmonton, so I'm no longer in a rush to pick up a Speedlight - so I can wait for BH to deliver. I'll most likely be in for an SB-600, diffuser, and possibly a few other minor items.

man dont temp me i just bought my alien bees... how much are pocket wizards at BH?

BerserkerCatSplat
07-04-2006, 08:36 PM
$350 for the receiver/transmitter kit.

BH doesn't have the SB600 in stock, I may have to step up to the SB800 if they don't get them in by the time you order....
