Looks like the NHL GM's can't control themselves again.

Some huge money getting tossed around.

Kubina = $5M a yr
Jovo = $6.5M a yr

Insanity

Chara to Boston
Savard to Boston
Jovo to Phonenix
Kubina to Toronto

Roloson resigns with Edmonton
Langanbruner resigns with NJ

lots still left unsigned.

What do you guys think of all the signings so far.... I'd say that defencmen are getting overpayed. Kubina doesn not deserve 4or5 mill/season. Chara for 7.5 :eek:

Some of these deals are crazy.

It will make Pronger's next 4 yrs look cheap.

Hal Gill is getting over $2M a yr now. I think he might have had 10 pts last yr...

Ya what's up with that? the owners complain that players contracts are too high but they are the ones that offer it to them. Won't they ever learn?

Gerber won't be the backup. With him coming in, they're getting rid of Hasek. And Emery is still too unexperienced. He played in the playoffs because Ottawa had no choice. Gerber had a great regular season with Carolina.

i mean carolina should have brought in a starter quality goaltender, i just dont think ward has what it takes to do it night in and night out, especially as young as he is

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!

so lets see, you think that Carolina should bring in ANOTHER starter to "help" Ward, whos the playoff MVP. Roy was young too, did you think that Montreal should've bring in someone else to help him too?

Ward is MORE than capable of being the No. 1 for the Canes and Johnny should be an excellent backup. Both are young and have alot of growth and potential. I see some great goaltending for either of them come October.

Nissanaddict

Donovan is....mixed opinions. He was fast. Able to skate into the zone effectively. Also, was able to draw a penalty 20% of the time. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to pass it off the other 80% of the time. I like him, and would like him to have a good season, but this last season was awful for him. He has the skill, he just seems cursed.

I said exactly that this morning. He's not slow IIRC, and although he has less points per game than say Jason Allison, he's got the faceoff thing going, and the speed thing. I think if you get any decently talented centre here, they'd have it easy with Tanguay and Iginla (who won't be double teamed constantly this year) potting the goals for them. Perreault would be sweet.

I think it still would have been awesome if we could have signed Jason Arnott. I think what the Flames really need is a center with some size to create room for the wingers.

Havlat to Chicago? Wtf? This doesn't seem like a very good deal to me, but it's Havlat and Smolinski to Chicago in return for Michal Barinka, a second round pick in 2008, Tom Priessing and Josh Hennessy, the latter two coming from San Jose for Mark Bell. Havlat also signed a 3yr, 18mil contract with the Blackhawks.

They would have got nothing for him just like Chara after his contract was over. Havlat said he wanted to test free agency, and the likely hood of him re-signing with the Sens was about the same as Chara. This way they got a decent package in return for him. I am sure not many teams were willing to give up a package of players/picks for a guy they would need to sign for $6 mill a year to keep.

If it wasn't for ex-Flame Seve Begin who would they have that is physical? Signing Samsonov won't help either. Sure Kovalev & him will socre some pretty regular season goals but Samsonov is another smurf player & was pedestrian for the Oilers in the playoffs. In the finals he wasn't even getting 10 minutes/game icetime.
