Possabilities are:
a) taking multiple photos over changing light conditions and exposure levels from the exact same point and combining them in PS
b) using a Nutral Density Gradient Filter (makes the sky darker basically so the foreground looks brighter)
c) being very good at photoshop so that they don't look nasty fake.

That's all after the photographer has made an effective composition.

And seeing the beautiful fall colors in the first shot I posted reminded me of this. Sorry, I dont mean to start including automotive related shots again, I just wanted to share this as taken by Morgan Segal.

There's alotta post processing in this thread! Ha....nice photos though.....I seen someone mentioned a grad filter earlier, those are very helpful to shade lighter areas and get good exposure on low light areas.....

Wow! you are not joking!

how do you get the whole picture in focus like that? I mean there are so many parts that look clear that I don't understand how a single lense could do that much detail..

Many large prints on display that simply amazed me!

Has anyone stopped by one of his galleries?

The guy's work is completely whored out in Australia, being that he's from Sydney. It's everywhere! Not that it's bad or anything; I really like some of his stuff.

Old thread, but I saw this photo from National Geographic's Jim Richardson today and couldn't help but post it. It's from an article about light pollution for NatGeo. EXIF should be fully intact.
