How to fix this MSN Messeger problem??

Hi before i formatted my comp...some of my msn messenger contact ppl have chinese character name n stuff... now it jus shows a bunch of sqaures (see pic) .....do you guys know how i can fix this or what addon do i need? plz help thanks

probably just need the propel language pack for whichever language they are using in their nickname

does ur computer show ANY chinese?
you'll need to change the regional language options, install east asian scripts, then far right tab select chinese, restart
should work, but if that doesn't work i also have the language pack

START --> settings --> control panel --> regional and language options
2nd tab on top 'languges' --> check 'install files for east asian languges'
3rd tab on top 'advanced' --> after the 2nd tab install, your pulldown menu should have 'chinese (area)' as a selection
i pick out some of the conversion tables as well, don't know if that matters tho

that should do it, as this is all i've done and i can see everything in chinese yet still keep and english OS
if you want a complete conversion you'll need the multi-language xp disc

u need the original xp cd
or if your machine was oem (which isn't anymore since you formatted it) you can use the original xp cd files

i don't know how to help u if you don't even have the original xp cd:dunno:

as for the chinese language thing i think the last time i saw that was back in windows ME, not sure if xp works that way
and even if it did, it'd be only for IE, and not other applications or the OS
