My MR2 Search

I'm looking at an MR2 right now, just wondering what you guys thought of it. 1991 MR2 Turbo, ttops, stock/never modded, 60k miles (verified by carfax) carfax is clean, 3 owners i think. He's asking 7600 USD. Here's some pics. The thing that worrys me is that it seems cheap, even for an american MR2.

where in USA is it? that might play a role.
western cars tend to be more expensive i find.

I've emailed the seller a couple times, turns out he recently bought it off ebay, so I think he might just be trying to make a quick buck off of a good ebay deal. I've asked him some more details and will update soon with any more info I get.

Yeah I would prefer a lhd. The thing is I am willing to spend like 10-11 k US on a mint, low milage MR2, prefarably stock, and this one is all that for 7600.

If you have some extra cash maybe try searching for a 93 or better yet a 94 or 95, that does look like a nice buy though. It has the cloth interior so its worth a bit less that a leather one. Paint looks good, engine is clean and all stock.

Yeah I'm willing to spend like 10-11k but this car fits what I want so well, the only prob is that it is in Texas which is damn far lol.

If you're looking to spend 10-11, and this car is 7.6, you might as well get it. Even if there are a few things wrong here and there, any fixes will probably come out to less than 2-3. Shipping might cost that much, however?

I meant I am willing to pay 10-12k for just the car, but this one is stock, pretty much mint condition and 60k miles is very low. I have no prob dirving it back, but I would like someone experienced in the process of importing to help me iron out the details.

Check out Jaymez Importing form the States thread. The best adivce, real life experiences all on that thread. Many guys have brought their own up since that thread because of the amount of good info and simplicty with someone else helping them.

Anyway, back on topic, Any specific issues I should look for? I will have it checked out before I buy, but any particular problems/warning signs to look for?

bad news, looks like the car may be sold.

Currently still searching and have contacted the jdm importers to get an idea of prices to bring in an aution grade 4 mr2.

My first choice would be to bring in an american one tho.

I don't really know im not really a fan of that color i think the white one was nicer but who knows depends on the buyers taste.

Im getting mine from california. flying to LAX and driving back

The white one is in san jose, so if i go with that one we could maybe cruise back to town together. We'll see if the seller gets back to me soon.

The white one is ok but looks a bit like a Mickey Mouse build up, painted lower grill side skirts sort of just thrown on. Its nice but price is high. That aquamarine is genuine clean and looks like its been well maintained but that color is hard to swallow.

It's a JDM Gen II swap (not as cool as Gen III but meh) but engine has only 38k miles. I've emailed seller for more info, but unless it's got crazy problems this may be the one, very clean with tasteful mods done.

Also how much do you think is right for this car?

Talked to the seller of the grey car, the body has 197092 miles and the ttops leak. Do you think that the mileage is too high on the chasiss? Also metioned that the check oil light is always on because the jdm oil pan doesnt have a sensor in it. He wants 11k too so maybe I'm still looking :(

This is prolly the one, 93 turbo with LSD, leather :) only 86k miles, and seller is very upfront and answered all my q's fast and detailed enough, plus he is very willing to get it inspected at toyota. I ran the vin and it's clean and clear. Probably going to put a deposit on it tommorow or sat.
