For example if I where to pick up a car from Quebec, what's involved?

No you don't. If you pay it, you get a forum to fill out, and you get your money back.

Thanks, this also might be a dumb question, but do you have to pay gst if you buy it off a private seller?

you only need to pay GST on a car if you bring it from the united states to canada. They will make you pay GST and if your in a province with PST they will make you pay that too. I think, that is.

I wouldn't touch a car from Quebec. There winters are super bad and so is the salt.
