Kind of short notice but I think i'll grab one later today, so hopefully someone can help me out.

I don't really have a set budget....I guess I'll try to keep it under $1k.

Which format would be easiest to get to the PC to edit/encode? But also the best? I have firewire on my pc (p4 3.0) so that's something I can consider.

I'm going to be using it for alot of stuff I guess. Random filming, family events perhaps, and I'd like to mount it in the car too and recording track runs.

Thanks

they are much better?

I didn't even get a chance to look at anything yesterday. I'ma do some research, if anyone has any reviews they can post up, that'd be cool

Hard drive ones are awesome! unless your one of those people who never loads videos/pictures on to the computer...

oh, and make sure to get a high optical zoom

what are you guys' suggestion if going on trips?
invest in an extra battery and bring your laptop for harddrive space?

I heard sony has a good nightime shot? is it much better than everyone else's if I want to use it for some evening shots?

I found one on FS website, but its $1200....possibly a bit more than I wanted to spend.
