Hey all, I have the opportunity to buy an 03 YZF R6, with 2300k on it, with no damage or anything whatsoever for $4600. Yes, or no and why? What are somethings to look for when purchasing a used bike? Thanks all!

kinda comes down to you... we could tell you want you want to hear, but everyone will tell you something else. R6's are great bikes, but in the end it comes down to you.

Buy it that is a straight up steal. Just make sure it has been dropped and repainted, and of course make sure it is legit (i.e. clean title). The seller should be willing to have mechanic check it out, so get that done too. If you do all that and still don't want it, I will take it. You will be saving about $3000 on it so I think if it passes the basic test you getting a smoking deal.

If you really want to get into if a 600 sportbike is right for you, I have posted an artical on another site (but this is the direct link to where I found it) that is worth a read: http://www.bcsportbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45571

Also I suggest you check out http://www.groundpilots.com/ you will be able to find a lot more information there.

Oh yeah and the ups and downs of this bike in a begineers eyes I think can come down to one word power. It has enough power to be wicked fun and enough power to kill you in the flick of a wrist.

If it is your first bike, even with dirt bike expierience, im going to come right out there and say go with a 500cc bike. I feel verys strongly on it with the strong point of that 600cc bikes are NOT starter bikes anymore.

it's gonna be 9,500+ considering they spent 11k-12k on it, and it's brand new with a few marks, it's not going to drop a whole lot more than that..

as for the 1st bike, 2300kms? on an 03.. I don't understand who owns these bikes, They must live on 17th and just ride to the shell.. And 4600 is really cheap, look into why that is.. that bike could sell for 8k, so somethign doesn't seem right.. unless you mean it's 23k, as in 23,000kms, then it would be more likely..

I'll be selling my '06 600 later this year with about 5000km on it for 10,000. It has a PC111, Pazzo Levers and braided lines.

Supa Dexta is right, even if there is a little rash from it being dropped it will not affect the price that much, The fairiing is a 3 part fairing anyway, Each peice and be replaced thus making it cheeper to fix the damaged part!

I only have 3000 kms on my 96 shadow. Nothing wrong with making stuff last.
