Used Pansonic CF-W2 - Selling for a friend

World's lightest 12" laptop with built-in optical drive!

- Intel Centrino 900Mhz
- 64mb shared VRAM
- 512MB of RAM (768MB MAX)
- Upgraded 80GB 5400rpm hard drive (Freshly replaced, formated and OS installed) Factory was a 40GB 4200RPM
- Legitamate OS with WindowsXP product key attached to the machine.
- 12X DVD-ROM/CD-RW
- 12.1" Screen with 1024 x 768 @ 32-bit resolution
- 802.11a/b/g wireless built in with dual array antennas
- A factory rated 7 hour battery (about 4 hours real world computing, 5 hours if you're really conservative on your use)
- Full width (19mm pitch) keyboard
- BEST PART OF ALL! Only 2.8 LBs !!!

This thing is a beauty to use. I have the exact same one and I've run AutoCAD 3D on it. A little slow but impressive none the less. Won't run new 3D games very well though.

Bought brand new was $3000. New one these days with only updated processor goes for $2500.

Selling this baby for only $1500obo!

Check the web for reviews on this thing...the only thing anyone ever said was wrong about this laptop was that it was too expensive...now you can get it cheap and have the best!

Other details include:
- Full magnesium allow casing
- Tested to withstand 30cm drop on corner and 100kg of weigh over entire top surface (done by panasonic not me;-D)
- Integrated optical disk is hidden under wrist rest.

Again if you want more details search the web for "Panasonic CF-W2" to get all the nitty-gritty details.

Again the price is $1500obo

I don't think they made a centrino running at 900MHz... maybe 1900?

Ok, let's clarify something.

Yes, the processor is Pentium-M 900MHz.

The reason any processor is called "Centrino" is because it is paired with an intel specific wireless network card (In this case the Pro/Wireless 802.11a/b/g) and Intel chipset controller. All Centrino's that were made in this time period used Pentium M processors.

Here's a quote for Atheros (another awesome wireless network card maker) speaking on the "difference" between Pentium M and Centrino.

"The Pentium M (M for mobile) is a new microporcessor family from Intel and their first designed from the ground up for mobile usage. The name is already causing some confusion because there are exisiting Pentium III-M and Pentium 4M families, leading one to believe the Pentium M is an older technology. Pentium M clock speeds are sloer than those available from the Pentium 4M family and the new chips are also more expensive. Because of these facts, many laptops will continue to use the Pentium 4M, while the new chips will likely go into "thin and light" mobile computers where battery life is the most critical feature.

The key benefit of this new processor family is extended battery life. Though various techniques such as aggressive clock gating (which turns off parts of the processor are not being used), and micro ops fusion (which combines instructions for faster execution), the new architecture is able to achieve significant power and extended battery life.

Centrino is a brand, rather than a product, supported by Intel marketing funds and applied by Intel and its customers to a bundel of Intel products that includes their Pentium M microprocessor, a related Intel chipset and Intel's 802.11 wireless networking module. The other Intel components are the Intel 855 "chipset" family and the Intel Pro/Wireless mini PCI card. ALL THREE COMPONENTS FROM INTEL MUST BE INCLUDED IN A LAPTOP FOR IT TO BE BRANDED CENTRINO. The 855 chipset is responsible for audio, graphics, communications, and memory control. The PRO/Wireless card provides wireless local-area-networking (WLAN) connections compatible with the IEEE 802.11b specification."

One of the most trusted online reviewers of laptops

http://laptopmag.com/Review/Panasonic-ELITE-CF-W2.htm

But the one reviewed is a 1.1Ghz one, not the 900Mhz being sold here.

Here's a picture of the laptop.
You can see clearly in the picture the Centrino sticker on the bottom right hand corner of the case.
