I'm finnaly getting a pic of my new ride up. Honda Element. Immediate plans are a system for it. It should be installed in the next cpl of weeks. Then hopefully a nice set of rims by next summer at least. I'll try to get a better pic when the sun comes out and I can clean her right up.

neat. So, whats the brute handle like? and whats the power like?

Nate
04-14-2003, 04:03 PM
Surprisingly. She handles well. A nice set of rims, at least 18 would help tho. 0-60 in 7.5 sec is what its been rated at. No after market stuff for it yet. Waiting for it.

anyway, i think those cars rock...they look funky, theyre utilitarian and they drive quite nicely...i tihnk u should look at the concept element that honda has been showing at some auto shows....6 speed, huge projection screen tv at the back, and basically a DJ booth on wheels...

Yeah, that sure is fast....

Ben

mid 17.s in Calgary isn't fast.

GTS Jeff
04-14-2003, 05:30 PM
lol even 8.1 is optimistic for the element...keep in mind that it has the cr-v engine but its heavier. cr-v probably does 0-60 around 10s

I don't like them either, at all. But good luck with your new project :)

im guessing that your being sarcastic. I believe that it is fast. that thing is huge. its a minivan. Its different styling and target audience, but its still a minivan. A Civic SiR is low 16's too (stock), so ya, i think its fast.

gpomp
04-14-2003, 05:52 PM
Ok, bench racing is cool...

Looking at the back of this month's MotorTrend a 02 Civic Si runs 15.7 in the 1/4 mile and the manual Element runs 16.5 while the auto runs 17.6! 0-60 times are 7.7, 8.6, and 10.8 respectively.

Glowrider
04-14-2003, 05:59 PM
If it does really pull low-mid 16's...that's pretty damn fast for such a vehicle.

hjr
04-14-2003, 06:03 PM
sorry gpomp. i didnt specify. the whatever gen. 6th i believe. like 96 ot 2000. i really dont know my civic years, but the gen before what is out now. ANYWAYS, this minivan is putting out the same numbers, so i think that is very impressive. Faster than a Civic DX and that is a hell of alot lighter. But, it doesnt really matter. its all relative.

Nate

I thought about painting the plastic. Someone has already painted the plastic to match theirs. Looked kinda stupid. Wish I could find the pic of it.

I'm not tryin to say this is a fast machine. For it size and weight she goes good. I had a 94 VW Gti, with a 2.0L before this. That car was slow as hell.

Nate
04-14-2003, 06:15 PM
Here is one with 18's

szw
04-14-2003, 06:15 PM
I'd definately paint the plastic...the grey looks kinda lame

and get some chrome spinners!

three.eighteen.
04-14-2003, 06:30 PM
yeh just looks like honda decided not to paint half of it to cheap out...and if that car pulls a 16 in the quarter mile, thats not bad for that type of vehicle

ACS-e36
04-14-2003, 08:03 PM
i guess the plastic lightens it up allot

04-14-2003, 08:09 PM
you guys are all so funny, first of all its a mid sized SUV, who the fuk cares what its pulled in the quatre mile.....i dont know about you, but i dont see alot of SUV;s when iam at race city.

Most kids can't afford a brand new car. And if they can. Mommy and Daddy usualy have paid for it or at least most of it.

Keep in mind those numbers are all recorded at sea level using professional drivers..i think that debating performance on such a vehicle is useless..cool little car nevertheless

i agree with vsm sir paint the plastic and get some rims like 20's and maybe drop it if you can... and i ll give you mad props

Nate
04-14-2003, 11:32 PM
I want 20's. Have to wait prob till next summer tho. Some guy has lowered his already with civic stock springs. I think I'll keep the outside stock this summer as my cash right now is going toward the system.

Hey Nate.....

You be interested in coming to the 403 meets? I want a ride in the Element! I love those rugged SUV's! I want to lease one

04-15-2003, 02:04 PM
i have a quick question, is yours the FWD or AWD model?

Nate
04-15-2003, 08:44 PM
Yeah I'd come out to a 403 meet. Unfortunately the AWD 5 spd doesn't come out for a little while, so I have the 5 spd fwd Y package.

Nice new car. A friend of mine was looking into getting one a while back, but the plastic kind of makes the exterior pieced together.

benyl
04-17-2003, 09:09 AM
I don't really dig the car personally, but I think that it is cool that you like it.

I wonder if it is going to be a fad car. Like the Aztec and the Civic SiR. Sells like a hotcake... then fizzles. You have to admit that it isn't everyone's taste.

GTS Jeff
04-17-2003, 09:27 AM
hehe aztek was never a fad car...it was ugly and sales were bad from day 1...

the sir isnt a fad car tho, honda just makes them limited produciton, altho the new one is overpriced, so its not sellling well.

James

I Think the Element is Hideous in a Cool kinda way, unlike the Aztek which is just Disgusting, should look pretty pimp on 20's

When I first saw this "suv" at the auto show, I was like, COOL! It's like lego! And then I saw one on the road and I was like, ewwww... nasty looking thing... Maybe it was just that color cause the silver body + the greyish looking plastic thingy was just so wrong!
