Buy the car that you want, asking here will get you opinions of what others would like.

I think they all have their place but the boxster is the odd one out, for DD I would prefer the 350Z. My heart says S2K but my mind says 350Z. The STi attracts the wrong kind of attention IMO.

For practical use the Subaru, its all wheel drive, back seats and its pretty fast. Im not sure about what I think of the new look though. Correct me if Im wrong but I think subaru got one of the top designers from Alfa Romeo to do there new look?

The pratical side of me says STI, but truthfully i think i would go for the S2000... atleast for a play car. I guess depends how much torque really means to you.

If you want something you can drive all year, STi, if not, then get a Z.

How about something newer and different from some of those 'me too' cars. For the money you will have to pay for some of those cars you can get a new Audi A3 3.2 Quattro with the ultra-slick DSG gearbox. It will be a more proctical daily driver than any of those cars but has ample performance to go with its luxury. The A3 has been getting rave reviews by C&D (ten best winner), Motortrend, & R&T magazines.

Buy the Sti. The 350z doesn't appeal to me that much, being just averate at everything it does, the boxters are coming up on being 8-10 years old for those ones you listed and the only thing the S2000 can do is handle well....it is very slow, has no torque and needs to be over 6000rpm or so to even go moderately fast. To me, that is no fun whatsoever and I don't see how that appeals to anyone unless you like a screaming engine that doesn't do much and pretty good handling. The Sti is the fastest car in the bunch and likely the best handling too. It also has a back seat and AWD. What more can you ask for IMO. If you don't like the huge wing just throw on a wrx wing if your worried about attention. Also if you want to do any mods, the STi is again your best bet as the only way to get any real HP gains out of the other cars would be an expensive supercharger or turbo kit. With the Sti there are plenty things you can do that make a significant difference, even a bigger turbo if you want.

Alot of votes for the STI's & while I like them & think they are a great car I find that people are selling them within a year or two of buying them at an alarming rate.

My guess is:
Expenisive car, very poor gas mileage, Interior is very very basic, lots of attention from other drivers.
I think the demographic buying them grows tired quickly.

he said play car... so obviously, it wont be driven in the winter, eliminating the STi (can't believe i said that) porsche is odd man out, and personally i think overdone (wayyyy too many out this summer) i would go for s2k or 350z, and being a honda fanboy personally say s2k (I <3 my honda) but its all your choice! all good cars!

If you want the ugliest car known to mankind, buy an STi.

I'm sorry, I love the STi, but it's horrendous.

350Z 4thewin:)

I should be saying the 350z but,,, my vote is for the S2000, I I dunno why, I'd just rather have the S2000 than the 350z.

Yup, and the STI is more performance oriented. The people looking at them are either true enthusiasts or younger people. The other cars in the list are comparable in price, and are more refined and luxurious - probably more comfortable daily drivers.

The S2000 is much stiffer then the STi, I would say the 350z would the most luxurious, then STi, then S2000. (greatest to least)

My vote is for the S2000, its a fun car + convertible! =D

I would have got an STi had it been more affordable new. And yes I do think it's an odd looking car but I kind of like that. Nothing else out there looks like it haha

if its for a play car and you have a dd already i would pick the s2k, i have one and personally nothing beats the feeling of air through your hair. i think the s2k would also be the most "fun" out of the cars you have listed. if its daily driven and the loud noise and ride might bother you i would pick the sti.

get the hard top option for the s2k (still removable, but not on the fly)

I have tried all those cars so many times .. ( stock )

For driving .... power performance .. pratrical :

I go STi > S2000 >350Z

For style :

S2000 > 350Z > STi ( actually, both S2000 and 350Z are nice looking car .. but we all know, STi is not a nice looking car .. )

My advice ?

Boxster .. since there is a boxster in your list ... ^_^

It is a Porsche is a Porsche is a Porsche ... and it is a nice mid engine roadster ..

It is slow .. but .. it is a Porsche .. can't compare with those asian car .. totally diff class ..

Service bill on the Porsche will be app. double to STi .. and triple to 350Z/S2000 ..

Well ... it is a Porsche .. who cares for the $550 oil change .. and $$$ service bill ...

Make sure if you buy the Porsche .. do all the "right" service on it .. I have seen so many kids .. bought the boxster .. and never willing to spend $$ on service .. what a waste!!!

:(

I agree, the S2k is a lot of fun in the winter, with winter tires, it handles much better than most car out there in the winter with its 50/50 balance.

Learn to drive with it in the winter and it is a lot of fun.

I'm going to have to :werd: FiveFreshFish on this one.
The M Coupe has everything going for it, brand, style, practicality, and performance. Not to mention it's rare, people are going to be stopping you and asking you what the heck it is. Excellent choice for the $35k-$40k range.

i disagree with all of you, s4 all the way :D 2.7L tt which if you get the computer burned or reprogrammed you can pull 300hp easy. that is if you get 2000, 2001. etc. with an intake, exhaust, chip(or program) you can reach 350 easy. and still have a very comfy, very stylish toy.

scratch that :D i want all the s4s to myself :D

I dont think any of those cars look good at all.

I would say either a G35c or bmw z4.

haha. You're right - doesn't seem like it worked last time. He didn't end up buying any cars in the list last time. It's fun to see everyone who owns the cars in question get defensive in these threads though. ;)
