Was bored today and decided to paint my black trims. Checked on the net and found some nice white e36's with painted white trims so i decided to go ahead with it. Bought 2 cans of alpine white III, and adhesive promoter which totalled to $52 dollars. Took me literally 5 hours for this project. Tooks about 4 coats to fully cover the black trims, and i still need to do 1 more coat but ran out of spray paint. Currently the trims are still drying, but i was able to mount my side marker since they were pretty dry, here are some shots of the side markers mounted:

i'm hoping the painted trims will look nice, what do you guys think of painted trims? also should i paint the lower black grill white?

i'll post pics tomorrow after its fully dry and mounted.

For those of you who want to keep the black trim, here's a great tuturial on painting them so that they look like new for a very long time. The trim remains dull so it doesn't stand out too much, which is important for me.

How can you tell the color is off if the trim isn't even on the car yet?

I'm not liking the white trim too much, i think i'm gonna buy a set of m moudlings and replace these. I'm gonna leave it on for the summer probabaly and see how much the paint fades, right now the trims are just way too white. Had the same problem with my m3 mirrors/trunk lip/eyelids when i got them painted, they were way too white and after about 6 months the paint faded and was a perfect match to the body color.

Anyone know where i can get a set of used 4dr m moudlings for cheap?

I also think it looks better... black trim on BMWs looks cheap... its like comparing a 330 to a 320, the 320s almost always come with the cheap dull looking darker trim.

It looks good man. Let it fade a bit, weather, ect, and see how it goes.

There you go, again, waving your e-penis around, and not engaging your brain.

1) A car that is 8-14 years old (e36 production 1992-1998, dont know his cars year), with 8-14 year old paint, with 0 day old paint..... isn't that a duh?

2) He painted his sidemarkers, and you can see that it is off.

3) Even he said that it is off, and you can visibly see it on the pictures with the mouldings on.

This applies to the e46+:

To the 320 to the 330 comment, all Sedans have the trim, and all coupes do not.

a 330 sedan has the trims(black), and the 330 coupes do not.

Other than that, it is a vast improvement, and good work Jon.

What in the fuck are you talking about?
I was just wondering since you can't really tell that the color is different just by looking at the moldings without them being next to the car. So how the hell could you tell the color isn't matched right?

Holy shit man now I know why you have been banned so many damn times, calm down pee wee.

Nah Andy, I was just a little annoyed when the first pic shows close up the color difference, and you can deduce the rest looks off too.

thanx guys for your opinions. I'm starting to like the white trims more and more now. At first i hated it, but more i look at it, it makes the car more rounder and smoother (if that even makes sense)

I'm gonna let the paint fade, and hopefully the color will match soon. I'll just leave it outside in the sun as much as i can, hopefully the uv will fade the paint faster, heh.

For now i am gonna keep it white, but will be looking out for m mouldings still.

took some more shots tonight, kinda dark and its bad quality since its from my phone:

Personally I prefer the black, especially since the freshly painted trim doesn't match properly.

Either way thats a slick looking car man.

You should try repainting them, this time using a grey primer in between. The reason they dont match is because the black can still be seen through the paint, and a grey primer would help that
