I'm looking to buy a Casio Exilim EX-S600 point-and-shoot digital camera.

A feature of this camera is that its movies are in MPEG-4 mode which means smaller file size compared to the AVI files of Canon. (I currenly have an old Canon PowerShot S230.)

Recently, the EX-S600D was released and can record in DivX. Unfortunately, it's only available online in France and Germany currently. I don't think it'll be too long before we see it here.

Anyway, I would like to know if a digicam that shoots DivX movies is worth waiting for. Should I just get the one that does MPEG-4 movies now?

What are the differences between MPEG-4 and DivX that should concern me as far as digicams go?

The difference in the two files is the compression. mpeg 4 is more for portable media.(ipod.) Which ever one you choose you can allways convert the mpeg4 to avi or vice versa. Hope that helped. lol

^^^ Thanks. Never thought I'd be choosing between two Casios instead of two Canons.
