hey guys, we just went on a road trip and at soem point the LCD on our Canon SD500 got busted... any idea where i can get a replacement screen? i am confident that i can change it myself, i just need the part... or if possible to swap the sd550 lcd and back housing on to it, since it's got a 2.5" lcd.

I checked ebay and there is no sign of anything on there.

there's a canon repair center in calgary, you can check there and see if they'll just sell the part. Their service is... well, the receptionist was brutal. And they charge a pretty penny for diagnostics.

yeah, i'd rather not buy direct from canon... i'm sure it could be had cheaper from someone parting out a busted camera, but chances are the most common part to break is the screen.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my new LCD would cost $33.20 (US) plus $5 shipping. YAY!

Thanks

I actually called the local canon parts counter but they closed at 3pm so i'll have to try again tomorrow... the lcd can be had on ebay for about $90, i'm hoping canon is a bit cheaper.

I've already got the camera apart and the old LCD removed, just looking for a new one to drop in :)
