I have my wheel wetsanded down to 1500 grit, and now its time to give it that mirror finish. I do not plan on applying a clearcoat.
I tried 3M rubbing compound, finished it with Mother's Billet Aluminum polish, both by hand. This is just "ok". I can still see very fine scratches from 4-5" away and the wheel still looks dull since there are very many fine scratches.
Would I see better results if I used my PC 7424 on this? The problem is the pads are 6" diameter and it won't get into the smaller areas of the wheel.
Can someone recommend me a product or another procedure? I heard Mother's powerball is good, but I don't want to spend 30 dollars if I have stuff I can use at home to do this.
I think the rubbing compound is getting rid of the lines created by the 1500 sandpaper. But the polish is just too fine to fill the scratches left by the compound.
Any help would be good!
