View Full Version : F U Cybersurf!!

Prob the longest post I’ve ever ranted about, so if this if your sittin at work or at home, and want to read about how messed up 3web is, read my rant:

I’m not going to be as generous as to NOT say my employers name, because I don’t feel they deserve the right to be unknown. For all those that are even CONSIDERING switching internet or phone providers, PLEASE avoid Cybersurf, 3web and CIA at all costs.

As an employee, not only is the service not up to par, the customer service is far below aswell…and this is where it gets interested from the internal point of view.

Last Friday, 7 Employees from a total of 15-20 Call Centre Agents in Calgary (probably at least 60% of the total agents of both call centers) were ‘Let Go’ (as im sure they were just itching to leave a stable job *Sarcasm*) because apparently they were closing down the SALES department…now me and my co-worker that are in the same team, deal not only with sales but we also deal with customer billing. We know the Sales agents well, as they were fairly new, but heres the odd thing….On the following Monday would have been the end of their 3month probationary period, entitling them to a raise, stable hours and a steady income…right?

So once these 7 employees are gone, me and my friend kind of get worried that maybe this company might plan to merge all their agents into one big group, and since we have no technical experience we might get booted aswell….the only thing we figure is that we are just barely past our 3month probationary period, have received our raise in pay, and have got consistence hours as full time employees.

Come Monday morning, I’m pretty sick so I decide to suck it up and go to work anyways….so off to work and begin to answer calls….about half way through I’m too sick to continue so I go home, tell my team lead and manager and tell my buddy that I’ll see him tomorrow…..only problem is I wont…..apparently after I left, and my buddies shift ended, he got called into a private one on one meeting and was let go aswell, saying that the billing and sales departments were closing down due to managements decisions….now he tried to argue that this was not just cause, he should be trained for new positions, whatever he could say to remain an employee….(I mean, its tough to find a job one month before school starting again)….but yet to no avail and he’s gone…

Tuesday, and Wesnday I call in sick, not only because I am but because I’m tryin to figureo out whats going on….my team lead calls me up and tells me that when I get back the manager wants to speak with me …. (gee, I wonder about what….)

So that’s basically where I stand, I return back to work on Monday, expecting the worst from a company that cant provide soild service, let alone manage its employees in a half decent manner.

/END RANT

I’m assuming that a department closing down is basically being laid off….correct me if I’m wrong, but am I eligible for employment insurance until I find another job? So many bills to pay, its gonna add up quick without a full time job for this summer, and then a part time one once school starts….

SO yes, any ideas comments and suggestions that you might think about, feel free to go ahead and express how you hate Cybersurf...I know theres a thread about how peoples internet is down….and guess who their provider is…..oh and guess what their working to do to fix it…..’Were waiting for our third party provider, SHAW CABLE, to fix this issue’….that was 24hrs ago....at least theres always dial up...

You might want to go to the media :dunno:

No need for media.

It's a simple layoff due to your position no longer existing at that call center. They have no obligation to give you another position, especially when it means overstaffing another division.

Such is life at call centers. When I was at one, my position and duties changed monthly, since the call center was given different portions of the clients contract.

i highly doubt its that

they will just end up hiring 7 new people or how ever many they let go and after their 3 month probation period will let them go and start a new cycle

this way the company doesnt have to pay more in wages also doesnt have to give benifits because all the employees are still in their 3 month probationary period. I highly recommend you do a bit of research and figure out whats going on and take this to the media.

do you have short term disability benefits? tell the doctor that you are having anxiety attacks, and have him put you on stress leave for a week or 2.

They can't lay you off until you go back to work, so make sure you do this right away.

i have to agree their customer service is the worst thing i've ever experienced. my family is with 3web for the high speed internet, and the first month our modem got burnt out. so i give them a call, and they tell me they'll call shaw to come out and check it out. i even told them the cable modem light is gone, and it's not even detecting my pc anymore. so obviously it's broken! but nope, they still have to send in shaw to check.

So i wait around 3 days (called on friday, shaw didn't come until tuesday), only to have them tell me exactly what thought. the cable modem is broken and needs to be replaced by 3web. so shaw leaves, i call 3web back and tell them the situation.

now comes the funny part, they said they'd deliver a new cable modem to me free of charge. nope, they ended up charging me. btw, i didn't get the modem until the following week. So I'm paying for no internet for well over a week. I call and ask them to pro-rate the downtime... nope they wouldn't.

so after tons of harsh words, they take away the charge for the modem, but still won't pro-rate me for the week of downtime.

3web sucks!

Do this.

Does Cybersurf even pay well? How can they pull stunts like this in a labor shortage?

To be eligible for EI, I believe you need to have 900 hours.

I use CIA for local phone and cable internet, but I'm ditching them at the end of august when I leave town.
Unbelievable that they would do something like this. No wonder the wait times are ~45 - 90 minutes when you call for tech support!!
When I call to cancel I'll ask to speak to a manager and give them a piece of my mind for you :D

haha thanks man. but good luck talkin to a manger...if there ever is one....they tell us never to transfer to a manger no matter what the problem is, they expect agents to solve any and all problems without any help....

oh and just thought i'd add, i was talking to someother people at work outside of working hours.....and this was not the first case of people getting 'let go' after 3months, its the second time this has happened and i doubt its going to be the last...

Sooo i guess how DJayz posted before, i guess its exactly like that
:thumbsdow

dude find out if your short term disability benefits is 100% regular pay and good for 1 year.

If so, don't stress things out, just go to the doctor and let him help you with your stress. You sound really fucked up and need some time off work to recover.

The doctor can probably prescribe a 3-4 week stress leave with a prescription...then at about week 3 go in and have him change your prescription which defer assessment for another 3-4 weeks.....then have him send you to a specialist - another deferal that could take 6-12 weeks....and so on and so on, get the general idea?

I won't milk it that far. Just long enough so you can enjoy a nice vacation.

Than find another job. Not too hard in this city.

Alright so Im official out of there. Got them to write me a letter of being laid off due to department closure, and i got a reference letter so hopefully my future employer WAS not a 3web customer, otherwise that reference letter aint gona mean jack!

So lets close this, and hopfeully anyone that searches for 3web, cia.com or cybersurf rolls along this post and sees that this is DEFINITLY not the route to go.:closed:
