And one more question for u guys... do u know where u can get ur class 6 liscence? Can u get it at crowfoot lisence/registry places? that's where i got my learners lisence for driving but i dunno if they have motorcycleness there... thanks!

sml

You need to get a class6 book from your registry, then get your learners at your registry in crowfoot (20 mc questions), then take the riding saftey course, then at the end of the course take the class6 license test... then enjoy riding!

offlimitz_chick
04-16-2003, 09:25 PM

My favorite ones are kawasaki ninja's... those are sooooo nice!

they're just different companies, just like Joes Driving school or AMA or something. I'm pretty sure they all teach the same things...

it's the quality of the lessons. wouldn't you rather learn from someone who knows all likelyness of events and has huge track experience as well?

personally, i recommend A-1 driving. little pricey but mike and trevor really are cool guys that take extra time to make sure you learn. if you decide with them, i might be seeing you on the group rides. sometimes help gather the group.

What class do you get once you pass the actual test?

I took my bike license and learners at crowfoot plates. The showed me the route ahead of time and then followed me in the car. Afterwards they set up pylons etc. in the back parking lot.
Very easy test. Mind you that was like 8 years ago that I took my test there. Things may have changed.

bol
04-19-2003, 01:21 AM
yes

i didn't read the book at all and only got one wrong

it's about 50/50 bike/normal rules of the road

bol
04-19-2003, 01:22 AM
I should also mention that you have until May 20th to get your license before the new graduated licensing program takes into effect.

offlimitz_chick
04-19-2003, 01:25 AM
ya i won't get it b4 may 20th ... what kinda rules do they have for bikes wwith the graduated licence thing?

bol
04-19-2003, 01:27 AM
I forget exactly, but I believe it's as follows...

you have to be a learner for one year, then you can apply to get your license, you have have that license for two years before you can get your full license and get out of the graduated program. during that time you have to have 0.0% blood alcohol and only have 8 demerits as opposed to 15. then you have to take a final "Advanced" road test to get your full license.

offlimitz_chick
04-19-2003, 11:20 AM
ok well that's not so bad... cuz don't u have to be 18 to get ur license license ne way? im not 18 yet so it's all good... i dunno if u have 2 be 18 or not though!

AzN_SoL
04-19-2003, 12:28 PM

Nah, some people are just more realistic than others... Even IF the test is easy, it's not THAT easy. They cannot let every idiot out there pass just because they paid the "licensing fee"... Some people DO fail... and to be honest, it could be anyone.

hmm why is it that toocool is alot more expensive than CSC?? i find it hard to believe that its just the quality of lessons alone. So what is it? better bikes?

oh man its soo easy to pass
the testing guys were funny
the instructor told us of one time when it started to rain and someone was being tested, the tester ran back to the shack for the rainsuit
and as he was running he was checking back, "i can stil lsee u , keep going"
ahha thi was true, when one of our classmates were doing the straight line
instructor 1: hey dave (from across the lot)
instructor 2: waht is it?(turns around while the test is being done)

"personally, i recommend A-1 driving. little pricey but mike and trevor really are cool guys that take extra time to make sure you learn."

FYI
Mike and Trevor are the ones who run Too Cool. They left A-1 last year and decided to set up their own operation. Too cool provides you with a bike to learn on and take the test with. They also provide you with a helmet. All their bikes and helmets are brand new for this year. They have a variety of bikes and MAKE you try a different one each class, so you get a feel for the different styles. They have 3 Kawy Ninja 250 ZZRs (sport), two Suzuki GS500s (standard), a 250 Honda Rebel (cruiser), a 250 Suzy Marauder (cruiser), as well as a couple older bikes. You can choose which one you want to take the test with. The course is offered from 11-5 Mon-Wed, 6-10:30 Mon-Thurs and I believe the weekend course is the whole two days Sat-Sun. They do the on lot training in the SE parking lot of MacMahon Stadium. On your last day, you get to go for a nice long road trip (1-1.5hrs)!

I took the course Mar 24-27 during the evening, so I didn't have to leave work early, or anything. I signed up during their special at the bike show for $289 (it's prob a little more now). The test is $35 a shot. You are required to have your learner's for the test and road trip. That's about $17-18 at your local registry.

I have to say, only having a little dirt bike experience and never riding a street bike ever, Mike, Trevor, Chris and Derrick all make you feel comfortable, confident and prepared for riding. They all handle themselves very professionally, yet still know how to have fun! I would reccomend this school to anyone.

On a side note, I have heard that the Safety Council course is one of the best you can take. Basically, you can't go wrong between the two schools.

Maybe Trevor still does lessons for A-1, but I've only seen him representing Too Cool. I do have an old card of his when he was still with A-1.

I called 2cool a couple of weeks back...the price for the begginer course was $329, plus the $30 test fee.

They were also pretty booked up and the classes were being booked for first week of June, not sure now since its been 2 weeks since I called.

I ended up signing up with Easy Riders. Same course...a little more $$$ but its less than a block from my house so its convenient for me. Price on that was $350...and my classes start on the 14th of this month. :)
