I guess that guy didn't get the latest bulletin.....

Here's an excerpt:

**Apparently recent studies have shown SUVs can't do as much as their buyers claim. One of those things is driving underwater, and scaling 90 degree slopes (better known as walls). A recall is expected since these vehicles should never have been sold to complete fucking morons**

I got hit from behind on deerfoot. I went off the road to the right hand side way off the road on the of under passes. Some mother fucker slams into my rear end. He must have been going at least 60-70 or something hurt like shit. Daily driver is now fawked.

On another note I saw a newer grey ferrari maybe 5 minutes before the storm started, wouldn't want to be him lol. We saw baseball sized hail!

That's pretty much what it looked like while I was driving.
I pulled over when the huge hail was coming down, it sounded like someone was beating my vehicle with a bat or something.

A few years ago in the Macleod area I drove my little 94 civic through a huge puddle like the pic, water level was over my hood, I floored the car and can feel that the tires were off the ground, but I still had bit of control like swimming in water I continued to go as it was too late to go back and passed a truck and 2 cars with them all staring at me and I made it out and can see people laughing and pointing that that little civic beat out the bigger vehicles. I was scared shitless, but happy as hell that I didn't get stuck.

Yeah it was pretty bad from Barlow Trail to Deerfoot last evening. I remember looking at everyone pulled underneath the overpasses to hide from the rain and hail as they probably couldn't see where they were driving. I kind of just shrugged it off and kept driving at a constant 60km/h which I thought would be safest in those kinds of conditions. My wipers were wiping so fast and it still couldn't wipe all the rain off so I just chugged along at a slower pace making sure I'm keeping everyone on the road in check so there's no accidents involving me.

After I passed deerfoot it started clearing up and all was good again except for this red Caravan and this purple older style sedan accord with blacked out altezza's. That guy must've been hauling ass in that hail and rain because his whole front end was 90 degrees. I felt a little bad but also at the same time I'm sure he could've pulled over or went slower.

Lucky I took Glenmore to Macleod and didn't attempt to go underneath it, wow that was sure luck because judging from those pictures it was a gong show. I wonder if everyone just sat there until someone drained all that water? Maybe reverse and drive onto Macleod? lol who knows I guess.

yeah no way that happened, you would get bogged down so fast and hydrolock....unless that civic had a snorkle... BULLSHIT! And swimming with ur tires off the ground? last time i checked ur tires didn't have paddles. Wow, ive never seen a more total bullshit story in my life.

maybe not, my 89 integra made it through a pretty big puddle like 4 years ago on mcleod and heritage. water was above my tires and i just plowed through it and a truck was stuck there hydrolocked.

theres a difference between just above ur tires, and over ur hood while floating. If the water is over ur hood... ur car is done, also ur inteiror, etc. Im gonna change my answer to not total bullshit, but theres a hint in the air.

Regardless what you all say and the theories of hydrolock, THIS IS NOT A LIE!!

My friend was with me and the car was litterally floating. I can't explain it and it is no exageration the water just covered the hood so air was still getting through. I almost hit one of the cars because I had not traction with the rpms so high. I held the rpms at around 7000+ rpms. After I got out car never died, but there was a bit of choking on the car and a few good high rpm revs cleared it and it was smooth sailing. The carpet got a bit wet and that's it. Believe it or not, it's true.

I'd have to say the stories about the civic and the integra not hydrolocking are possible. I did it in a golf as well. Although it doesnt sound logical it all depends on where the intake sits and if you power thru it the wake will leave a gap where the air intake can still get enough air without causing hydrolock. However if you slow down enough for the engine bay to fill up these areas with water then you are fooked.

insurance company consider water that reaches your floorboard a total loss (most of the time) if your car hydrolocks. keep that in mind ;)
