I totally see that. Damon does bare some resemblance to the early 70's pre-obese Capatain Kirk and unlike alot of the posers in Hollywood, he can act.

Matt Damon'll probably be a better Captain Kirk than Shatner was. Only 40 year old trekkie virgins would think that Shatner can act.

The beauty of the old Star Trek, and the old Star Wars for that matter, was that the acting did suck. That just made the action seem that much more rediculous.

Shatner is the Hasselhoff of space.
I dunno man. Shatner was good in Wrath of Kahn, but that is the only Star Trek movie to ever really be good.

I will be waiting for Damon to do the Captain Kirk double foot kick in a fight scene. If he can pull that off right, maybe I'll accept him. Maybe.

True, but Wrath of Kahn was still by and by far the best trek movie. Compared to the odd numbered movies, and #10, it is like Return of the King :D

No amount of acting can make up for Damon being BORING.
At least Shatner has some personality.

I will also reserve judgement until I hear the KHAAAAAAANNNNNNN! lol. Shatner made a good Kirk BECAUSE he was so cheesy. I'm worried if Matt gets the role he'll just piss off all the trekkies by overacting the part.
MAAAATTT DAAAAMOONNNN!!!!!
