I'd like to buy (or just borrow for my vacation) a usb GPS receiver for using with MS Streets & Trips.

too bad i didn't see this when you first posted it... compusmart has streets&trips with a usb receiver for only $90 last week.

I just bought one from Ebay, it was $65. It's a Holux 213.

I've been watching those auctions... have you received/used it yet? I wouldn't recommend an ebay seller until the transaction is complete.

Been using it in my car for weeks. The receiver has a very very very strong magnet in it so I put it on some metal in the fan shroud in my dash and ran a USB extension cable to a computer in my trunk running Windows and then back out to a display screen in my dash with iGuidance for display. It works flawlessly and the transaction was awesome, it was a new unit.

Cool... probably has that strong magnet for attaching to the roof of the car. Is it weatherproof?

I don't know but I would imagine. If I remember, I'll take a look at the manual, but it's for boats too. I dropped it in my lap and I had to use 2 hands to pick it up, I didn't know what was happening. It was stuck to a piece of metal in my pocket.

On Ebay for $62 with $15 shipping. Or you can pick it up from their store in Richmond, not sure if they have one in Alberta.

I bought mine from Ebay user hw904 if you want a recommendation. And here's a picture of it installed in my car.

And it has Sirf Star III technology so it doesn't need a direct line of sight to the sky, it can be inside something.

mmm.. doesnt that thing need to be charged every once and a while?... lucky its got the sirf star technology cuz youde find a hell of a time getting a signal with it located in there

Charged? It's powered through a USB cable hooked to the computer.

Only the bluetooth ones need charging... and I think that's only if they're not connected by usb.

I ended up finding something... it's called a GoNav... I guess the company is chinese, but they're starting to sell these things in Canada. It's a WinCE device running a modified version of iGuidance. It's got a built in SiRF GPS and it works pretty good. I'll have to try to learn how to make my own CE image file so I can get it to run whatever programs I want. :)
