I bought a 1991 Pathfinder about 2 months ago, just to use for the summer.

Anyways, i am heading back to university in 2 or so weeks, and the transmission blew.

I took it to my mechanic and he estimates it is going to cost $3100 to fix.

I bought it for $2800...:dunno:

I wanted to sell it before school started, but now I dont know what the fuck to do.

is there anyway i can cut my loses? sell it for scrap? part it out?

time is essential!

Call a scrap yard and see what you might get one for, then install it yourself.

Otherwise, you're not going to get jack as a parts vehicle. But who knows, maybe someone will take it off your hands... yes.... less than you paid, but maybe the vehicle is in good enough shape that a mechanic somewhere would do a tranny job on it himself? All speculation of course as I don't know the condition of the vehicle.

try car-parts.com

Ontario based wreckers selling them for $500 range...

Cost you $100-150 to ship and maybe core deposit...

Other wreckers on there negotiable...

Is truck worth repairing?

Shitty deal.
I agree with the above, call some scrap yards see what they have or you could list it as a for sale for parts only?

If its in decent shape I can ask some guys I work with if they want it. or just bring it down to stadium nissan. If its cheap i'm sure some of the guys would be interested.

It is in good shape, aside from tranny of course.

The thing is, I needed to sell it for school money, so I do need to get rid of it, so I don't know if there is any point in even trying to fix it :dunno:

Try a FS thread and see what pops up for interest. Course you need more pics (inside) and details (mileage)...

From that one pic it looks in decent shape.... you shoudl get some bites even with the trannygone I would think. If you're pretty much free of rust I can't see you not being able to sell it and still get out of it with your shirt.
