If you want to learn the right way, get a dirt bike first, so you can learn the how to control the bike and how it will react in a safer environment (in the dirt, not on the road in traffic).

Six months on a 100cc dual-purpose bike shoud do the trick... then think about a street bike.

Don't make the mistake that so many beginners do in thinking that a smaller street bike is the safe way to learn how to ride... it isn't!

Nahhhhh
I bought a 01 Ducati 750ss as my first bike.

It was very very easy to handle.
Just ride a dirt bike first.
If you have a buddy that has one, go out for a weekend
and ride around.
Then do the riding courses and you'll be fine.
That's what I did.

The key is to not ride like an asshat.

Oh and I have someone I know that might be selling his bike.
I'll Pm you info as soon as I get it.
