Best: Stand/sit around all day and do nothing.
Worst: Stand/sit around all day in smoke and sometimes have to wear a purple shirt.
Best: Troubleshooting aspect of it, being give an piece of equipment to repair that no one else has be able to make work, and seeing it work when you are done. The knowledge of tools and process I pick up with the work...
Worst: Hauling up the 900 lbs of tools up ladders, roof hatches, stairwells etc. The driving, 100,000 kms/year. And customers that try to save themselves money by not listening, and end up costing themselves twice as much. Being in early 30's and everyone thinking you are mid 40's due to grey hair...

shedboy
08-13-2006, 08:19 PM
best: 7 days on, 7 days off
worst: 2nd lowest paid shop in the the city so we have a high employee turnover rate which leaves me constantly working with dumber and dumber people every time someone gets hired. the one guy might actually be handicapped, i've been "training" him for 2 months. i really gave up after day 1
Best: I love IT, the industry and technology, so it works out perfect for me. I have always been into problem solving and making things work. Plus I have a great boss, great co-workers, and work for a good company. I like working with servers and networks, and have variety, instead of doing one simple task for 9 hours a day.
Worst: There's nothing I really dislike about it where I wake up and hate going to work. There are small quirks, such as printers I dislike due to their interfaces, sometimes they just work, and other times they can be a real pain in the ass when on a network. Also, there's the odd time where people just dont explain their problems well, or are very computer illiterate, so you find yourself taking something the wrong way because the way they explain it, it sounds like something else, but from their level it's another thing. Comes down to reminding yourself that not everyone is good with computers and thats why I have a job. It used to frustrate me (PEBKAC) but now it's alllll good.
The Pros are far greater than any Cons (if there are any)
