Opteron 170 (IHS removed)- $380 (idle temps 29-30)
- 1000MHz HT 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor

OCZ Platinum PC4000 EB 2GB Kit - $270
- 500MHz DDR, CL 3-3-2-8, Unbuffered, Mirrored Platinum Copper Heat Spreader, 2.8 Volts, 184 Pin DIMM, Lifetime Warranty

DFI LP nF4 Ultra-D- $130
- DFI's LANParty UT NF4 Ultra-D is a testament to how an intelligent array of little extras can really set a board apart from the competition. Just when you thought all nForce4 Ultra boards would be the same, along comes a board that glows under UV light, can boot into Memtest86, supports dual PCI Express x16 graphics cards, and has a nifty audio riser that seems to improve audio quality. Combine all those extras with a robust chipset, a great layout, and a tweak-filled BIOS, and the NF4 Ultra-D looks like one heck of a motherboard

Thermaltake BIG Typhoon- $50
* Application for Intel P4 LGA 775, and AMD K7, K8
* 6 Heatpipes, transfer the heat quickly
* High density aluminum fins provide more surface area for good heat dissipation
* Copper base solder, perfect contact to ensure the best performance
* 12 cm silent fan, perform well at low noise,
16dB only

Or buy em all for $800

For most people, this is high end computer hardware. All of this works great. These are all used items. Check the prices for yourselves.

Secondly, that MB is not designed for an opteron processor (it probably works, but its still not designed to run with it, lost efficiency)

Have these been used? new? I would assume brand new judging by the prices.

What lost efficiency? 939 Opetrons are just X2s with bigger cache and lower thermal properties. That cpu/ram/mobo combination is pretty sweet.

Are the prices OBO? Typically used stuff selsl for around 50% of new - or at least I am reminded of that everytime I try and sell something.

I use the same processor (stable at 2.75GHz) and it pulled over 100,000 marks in Aquamark with a single video card.

Despite DeeK's whining, it's still the basis of a very solid system.

Bump to get things back on track.

No, it's not. However, that doesn't mean everyone is willing to make keychains out of their $500 AMD CPU's.

Please, try to stay on topic, your comment added absolutely nothing relevant to this marketplace thread and was uncalled for. This is not a general discussion thread, it's a FS thread ;)
