Hey guys,
I was trying to do a search on the internet for this but couldn't find a site. So just wondering what are some cars (i.e. sport compacts, sedan, coupes, etc.) with greater than 25 MPG fuel economy?

I would think an Elise to be the most effecient sports car. Small engine with very little weight to pull. It just needs a longer 6th gear for overdrive and it'd have great highway mileage too:thumbsup:

Stock 91 240SX gets me ~26-~28mpg lately (Since May). The commute is pretty much 1/2 Deerfoot, 1/2 on Mcknight getting to Deerfoot. On my way home from work Deerfoot is pretty much stop and go. So, that's pretty much like ALL city driving.

I average 22-23mpg City and 28-32 Highway.
Not bad for a GM 4 Door Family Sedan that weighs 4500lbs and sees at least 6 lbs of boost every day.

Did Calgary to west edmonton mall on one tank of gas. Not bad for a 3.8l V6. I still had about an 8th of a tank when I came back. So... around 55l - 650 kms.

Around 12L per 100 kms. Thats on the highway, and we were doing probably 110..still getting passed by semis though. :dunno:

I get almost 600 km to an approx 58 liter tank in my 96 TA, thats doing 130kph steady.

Shes long due for a plug and wire change though, and filter could use a cleaning.

32.8 MPG(Can.Gallons), 600km out of 52 liters highway. That was on premium with my mods still attached (345hp, 367tq).

I get the same without the mods, and on 87oct. now.

I miss that extra 45 horse.

I get 17 MPG, so says my handy Fuel Calculator program. ;) Dunno how that compares in L though. Probably shitty. I need an alignment =\

Published mpg is always off, I've never found them to be accurate on any car I've owned. From personal experience I've found that cars that burn regular gas get better mileage, and Hondas get better gas mileage than Nissan.

With respect to fuel economy, lets be specific as to whether you are calculating mpg numbers with US gallons or Imperial gallons. The Imperial Gallon is larger so you will always get better numbers. US gallon is approx 3.785 litres while the Imperial gallon is approx 4.546 litres.

Here are some formulas for those who want to do their own calulations:

Metric economy (litres/100km)

( litres / ( km / 100 ) )

Conventional (mpg)

( miles / ( gallons / 1 ) )

Therefore in my case, my stock Nissan Sentra SE-R spec V had travelled 660km with 44 litres of fuel and obtained:

6.67 litres / 100km
35.28 mpg US
42.37 mpg IMP

My result was with 4 adults in the car on the way to Jasper. (I was doing the speed limit + 10% for pretty well the whole trip).

Incientally, I found that Nissan's claimed economy on this car to be truthful. In fact, I obtained a better result. Normal driving obtained the claimed 7.3L/ 100km (highway) and 10.2L/100km (city).

I haven't been following my fuel economy much lately. However I did notice an increase in economy when I installed headers.

my Pathfinder got 25 MPG once...i went 100 km's doing 50-70 km/h out west lol...filled it up on the way out to the top and filled it when i got back, did the math and even got one of those sliding calculaters to make sure. I don't think i get that good on the highway...not even close lol

I get 13L/100km on the highway at 120kph.
In the city, I don't really know, lately every fill up involves the highway.

Wish there was somthing I could do to save fuel, lol. (Have intake and cat back exhaust.)

Edit: Its a bit better than what that website lists for highway, 12.4, but American highways are a bit faster than Canadian highways right?

13L/100km is WORSE than 12.4L/100km.

And American highways are actually slower than Canadian ones. 65mph = 104.6km/h.

Only Alberta and Saskatchewan have 110 limits.

Everywhere else is 100 with Ontario being 90 in most of the province.
