i am currently looking at a 04 wrx to purchase http://canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=22462665&pgno=1&srt=7
i have been told that it has been in a minor front end accident from the first owner that was a leaser in which the front bumper, radiator, and fender was replaced. i really like this car but dont want to end up with a lemon. I need some advice from some experienced car buyers as i have never bought a used car before and dont know if this is a good deal or a rip off.

the vin is jf1ed29644g517908 if anyone has carfax and they want to get me the report.

please post helpfull advice?

Doesn't sound very minor to me. If you like it that much why don't you wait for an unharmed one. But if you're getting a super good deal on it i would check the hoodlines and headlights and open the hood and check all the frame components.

If there are any creases cracks bends... repaints of the frame... i would forget it.

But that's me. If you like it that much go ahead.

I would just stay away from it. Even if you save a couple thousand, it's not worth it if safety has been compromised. Plus it'll affect your resale as well. It's not like there aren't similar models to look at - just move on.

When you buy a car, you have to consider how hard it will be to sell one day. If there turns out to be a problem, no one will buy a rebuilt car thats's already gone through two owners. Your risking 24 K to save what 2-3 K?

For $26500 and taking into consideration it's history I'd say keep looking. It looks to be in good shape but you never know.

Keep in mind that not all accidents show up on Carfax. My RSX went through a $17k repair bill (front/rear) and nothing shows up on Carfax. I took it in for an inspection at a local shop and the words of the mechanic were 'Are you sure this car has been in an accident'? So that was a testament to how well the bodyshop did in fixing the thing. Don't be thrown off just because it's been in an accident. If it's a really good deal, it drives fine and looks fine, do it up. With that said, I don't think $26,500 is exactly a steal though.

Keep looking bro its been said already but if your not sure the rest of the market when you decide to sell it will be the same.

If it is I've seen this car and IMO its in great shape. These guys do present good points though... my suggestion is if your really interested in buying it, take it to a trusted mechanic and have them go over it with you. Good Luck!

If you really like that particular car for sale and theres no frame damage, then I say go for it. Just my 0.02 cents.

Make an offer (below the asking price) contingent on the fact that it clears an inspection with a trusted mechanic.
