I got mine at "A" driving school, just east of the memorial and shag intersection in the NW. Cost me $500 for the driver training, and got my air ticket with that as well, but I got this on sale, so it might be more. When I did it, training was great, the instructor was awesome. I am not sure how it is now, but if it is still like it was before, I highly recomend it.

I'm curious, what classes of license do you need to be able to drive EVERYTHING?

Like a car, motorbike, semi, taxi, ambulance.

I currently have class 5 and 6, and am thinking of getting class 3. But I noticed at:

http://governmentservices.gov.ab.ca/index.cfm?fuseaction=section:drivers:newlicence

No holder of a Class 3 operator's licence shall operate a motor vehicle:

- that has a seating capacity of more than 15, while that vehicle is transporting any person in addition to the operator.
- to transport passengers for hire.

So this means that nobody in Alberta can legally be licensed to drive a semi AND bus AND taxi at the same time? Isn't that retarded?

ok if you want your class three you midas well get your class 1 with airbrakes, because i believe that is better....What my stepdad did is go work for some oil company, they will pay you to learn how to drive the truck then if u like the job stay if u dont after the trainning quit....as easy as that....

I reccomend foothills driver education. I took my class 1 there 8 months ago and it was great. With 10 hours driving time and 5 hours class time I believe it was 1100$ +/-. They have a well maintained 2003 freightliner 18 speed to learn on, and the instructor is great!

(this includes a PDIC, Air Brakes, TDG certification, and the first time you take the test.)

So if I am understanding you correctly. You had your class 1 in a week or so? Did they include the truck for lisencing test?

yes the truck is yours for the licensing test, you can have your class 1 in about a week, I had mine in 10 days. Make sure you are very comfortable going into the test because a retest is nearly 100 $ I believe. The pretrip inspection is where most people fail the first time, there is SOOO much to remember.

or you can get your class 2 and you get your class 3 with it :p

I have my class 2 + air brakes

I can drive anything but a truck + trailer and/or motorbike

I think the cost is the same and you can drive buses, ambulances, with passengers
