View Full Version : Subaru Calgary rant!

Just got back from Subaru Calgary to do my first 6000km service for my 2006 Impreza.

Not impressed at all with the service advisor at the end. Just went in for an oil change and they were about to charge me $65 for the first service which is basically just an oil change and visual inspection. I checked the subaru.ca website and know that there is a service special for an oil change and such for $35.

Without this knowledge the advisor tries to tell me they just follow the recommended service for subaru. But this is where it pisses me off when they are the experts and they know that the only thing needed for the first service is an oil change. He then goes to tell me that I should of requested the special, but wait...am I the advisor or the expert??? No he should be the one letting me know that this special would be all that I need. I had to show him the website to show the special that was on. He should be up to date with the promo's:guns:

I know that I should of asked about pricing, but it was my first service here in Calgary and I wanted to try out that dealership before deciding where I will be doing my future services. If I have to be the advisor and expert to what needs to be done to my car then the advisors are not doing their jobs. To top it off when he tries to explain that they follow the recommended service they follow, I go and find out that sure they do....I check to see if they actually "Lubricate all latches, hinges and locks" but see that they did not do such a thing. Total :bullshit: The rest is just all visual inspection which doesn't take anything at all.

They could of saved me the $30 in the first place, instead of me having to complain about the pricing on the website.

So I guess next time I will be trying Centaur Subaru!

Mr. Lube FTW. Finished in 15 minutes. A bit more expensive than the dealers, oil change is around $50 but it's FAST.

The 6000km service is supposed to be free if you do the dealership report card thing. At least that is what it said when I filled out mine...I have another 5000km to go! :D

heh. $10 for dino oil. $5 for filter and some elbow grease.

I have done all my own oil changes... take 15 minutes. Faster than Minute lube!

I could do that too I guess but would they hassle you if you didn't have receipts for it if something went wrong with the car.

I guess you'd have parts receipts but not labour. :dunno:

I keep the receipts for the oil I buy and log in my service manual.

Why dont dealerships have a dedicated oil bay like they have at minute lube? Gawd knows they get plenty of oil change requests in any given day, and with a dedicated shop bay, they could still charge their big dealer bucks and have a 20-min service.

most have 2-3 bays dedicated to it.

Yeah regular price is $65 but they had a special on the subaru.ca website that which works out cheaper only $35. Everyone knows that the inspection part of the 6000km service is total :bullshit:

I would of done my own oil change but I didn't have the time. I wish they did have a dedicated oil change bay.
