Hi all,

I've made a deal with a local supplier who's trying to promote a new performance tire. It called an Aurora K103 and made by Hankook. Very similar in tread pattern to the Kumho 712. They've agreed to sell me 5 sets below cost. My markup will only be 3% to cover credit card charges plus normal installation charges. In return for the pricing they request a written evalutation to this forum and myself for these tires. I have one set sold and 2 pending. However it's a first come first serve basis. From one reliable source, for those of you who know Reijo Silvennoinen, a local experienced racer, I've heard he has a very positive reaction regarding his tires. I'm waiting for him to get back to me officially.

I'm also putting together a group buy for Kumho V700 and V70A R compund racing tires. I'm planning to put the order in later this week. I need to know as soon as possible on these as well.

Thanks

I have a number of of ones in that size. If you're looking for price then I have one made by continental with a 130,000 kilometer rating for $63.54 or a Cordovan Ultrex for $66.88 which has a 100,000 km mileage warranty with road hazard warranty included.
My personal recommendation is a Kumho 716 for $72.97, it's a very highly rated tire and also H speed rated to boot. It's rated for 80,000 km.

Alright, I took a look. What do you have that's a little more performance oriented in that size?

Looking for either 215/45/17 or 225/40/18 (or close match)
No particular brand preference, I'm not doing any auto-x or anything on these tires, but would still like decent traction (drag race) and tread wear.

Don't care about noise or comfort really.

There's a tire called the Sigma HP for $73.15 (http://www.sigmatires.com/performance/hp/index.html). There are a number of brand name tires also. You should visit www.tirerack.com and look at all in your size and you can decide which characteristics in a tire are important to you. I can get most of what tire rack has.

The Aurora K103 is more a handling tire than a drag tire. BFG makes a couple of street drag radials but tire wear will be an issue. My suggestion would be to go for the Kumho 711's. Perhaps other members can respond with their experience on tires that may fit the bill. Price on the 711 - 215/45/17 is $117.66. the 711's don't come in the 18" size but the 712's do - $179.52

I should have mentioned I don't really want drag tires...haha..just that's the most I'd be doing with the tires.

How much for the 712's in the 215/45/17?

If I bring my rims in, will mount and balance be included in that price?

Damn, you're quick!! I'm interested, I would need the following done:

I have a set of winter steelies, I'll need my winters which are on my main rims now put on the steelies, then I'd need my new tires mounted on those rims. How much is the total for everything? And how long would that take? Thanks again.

Well I'm on the computer working on the website. Taking a lot longer than I expected :thumbsdow
The mounting and balancing for 8 tires comes to $104. I'll give you a break on that and bring it down to $90. I need to know which tires you wanted but I should be able to get either model here in a couple of hours so it's just a matter of you setting up a time and leaving the tires with me for a couple of hours.

That's cool. Just so you know, I don't need them ASAP, I'm still in the looking phase but so far you seem pretty reasonable and I'm all for supporting new business. I want to get them by May or early June. I think you're up in the NE, reason I need to know how long it'd take is, I can leave my car with you but I'll need something to do for those few hours, I guess that's my problem, not yours!

It's for unrepairable tire damage due to road hazards incurred during normal driving. A lot of tire stores mark up their tires and include flat repairs or charge you extra for a flat repair warranty. Because flats are not all that common these days, I choose not to mark up the tires but rather save you the money and if you get a flat, the money you saved more than covers the cost of the repair.

Whats your price on a couple of Yoko AvidH4 205/40R17's?

Whats install worth aswell?

Thanks!

Also - If I sometimes get a little rubbing on the back tires in the corners - would it be wise to get smaller tires for the back (like 205/35's) - or is that un-safe for some reason?

Avid H4 $361.72 for two tires installed including all taxes.

Rubbing is a problem if it's taking alot of rubber off. Smaller tires wouldn't be a problem but unfortunately I cannot find any tires in a 205/35/17 size

That's something that I would be interested in. Do you guys do installs on saturdays? And can you give me a general description of the differences between kumho 711 and 712 in terms of traction, noise and wear. I am looking for a tire that can handle very light snow like the first snow fall in Calgary. Thanks a lot.

The Kumho 712 is going to give you superior traction in dry summer conditions. I believe it may be a better wet tire as well. The 711 should last longer being a harder compound. I do not recommend either tire in snow. One tire you may be interested in is the Continental ContExtremeContact. It is an ultra high performance all season tire and is very inexpensive. The closest size if it'll fit is the 205/55/16 @ $129.36. check out the surveys at Tire Rack. <http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ContiExtremeContact>

I just picked up a set of Hankook Aurora 205/50/16's from Anand. Installation was quick and the service was great.

The tires are pretty good. They are not as good as the Michelin's I had on previously, but they do handle very well in the rain. They are noticably more quiet than the Michelins too. Unfortunately, they don't catch the pavement as well as I would have hoped under hard cornering, but they are very good tires overall for daily driving.

Although I did not by my rims and tires from him... his prices are very, very, very competitive as are his rates for installation. His service is fast and friendly and I would recommend him to all of my friends.

I just got a set of Kumho 712s from Anand, and the careful work that he put to mounting and balancing on my tires were unmatched by any other tire shop in town. He let me watch the whole process and told me excactly what was wrong with one with my wheels and what he could do to fix it. He torqued my lug nuts with the right pressure, not with the impact gun. In all it was a great deal and a great experience. Get your tires from Anand!!! HE is genuinely a great guy to deal with.

I, too, got a set of tires from Anand. I wasn't disappointed. He took his time to mount and balance. Great guy to deal with.

Hello,

I was just wondering if Dunlop FM901 "195/50 15" is cheaper than 195/55.

Also, would it be possible in the future to stock Falkens? Or are they to limited market for Calgary? I was looking at 205/50 15 Falken Azenis. Any impressions on Azenis from peeps in Calgary?

Thanks.

Just purchased a set of rims/tires for the wife's car from Anand today.....I will be going to My Tires for ALL my summer/winter tire/wheel needs in the future. Going there was definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had at a tire shop:thumbsup:

Anand,
I'm interested in a set of the BFG Comp TA Drag Radials, I think the 235/60-15 is the largest you can squeeze onto my 15 X 7 mags but I would like the 275's for the extra rollout.

I understand the tire life but these seem to be one of the stickiest tires out there, can you let me know a price for a pair?

Hi there,
Sorry for not responding sooner.
The 275's are too big for a 7" rim.
235/60/15 $671.96 for two installed with all taxes
