Body Dumped Downtown

Just heard on the news that a body was dumped from a car at Center and 4th Ave SW (right at James Short Parkade) at 10am this morning.

There is nothing on Citybeat yet, but it seems like someone dumping a body downtown would do it so that others could see it (otherwise it would be dumped in the woods somewhere). The area is packed with people going for Dim Sum a bit later. Who knows?

Anyone else hear about this yet?

Two people have been taken in for questioning in connection with a possible homicide.

Police were called this morning after a body was dumped on a busy downtown street, allegedly from a car.

Emergency crews were called to Centre St. at 4 Ave. S. about 10 a.m. today on reports of a pedestrian hit and run, but the homicide unit was quickly involved when it appeared the man was not hit by a car.

A short time later a car matching a witness's description was found at an apartment complex in Glamorgan in the city's southwest.

Two men from an apartment were taken into custody by police.

I was down there for work this morning, that whole street was taped off when I arrived (around 11:30 or so). Body was under a yellow tarp. Look like an asian male when they lifted the tarp. Bloody in the chest area, gunshot or stabbing or something.

I doubt anyone would dump a body like that unless they are making a statement. The body was right in front of a restaurant.

i walked by not long after this happened, sitll no ambulance on the scene and just a "tarp" over the body.

alot of people standing around gawking, i glanced as i kept walking but chose to respect the dead a little mroe then making a spectacle out of it.

Could tell he was a "younger" guy from ther shoes he had on though.

I don't think we paid enough to attract more people to join the force. There isn't nearly enough presence. And all the good ones went private because grasses are greener on that side.

I remember in one of the shootings recently, (2 or 3 weeks ago) they caught one of the suspects soon after (in one of teh cars involved) and it was a Silver E46 w/ a BC plate. I remember thinking wtf?

But yeah, a lot of the recent crime has been BC "testing the waters" of calgarys "hot new market."

Yeah I heard on the news this morning that he was a crack addict, and had been in jail for a couple years in BC then moved here and finished his sentence. Once he was out of jail he got a job and started cleaning up his act... but a couple months later he was back to his old habbits. Poor guy.

It may actually be true though. Probably not directly because of the race, but indirectly because this particular race is statistically linked to a higher percentage of gang style crime in this city. Or moreso what's portrayed on the news.
