Why was the engine rebuilt?

How's the interior?

The interior is in excellent shape. There is very minor wear on the drivers bolster, but I would give it a 9/10 for sure. I can take some more pictures if anyone is interested, but would suggest just comming out to have a look / drive.

The engine was rebuilt due to an unexplained failure in cylinder #5
where there was contact between the valves and the piston. There are two theories on what happened. First, the cars previous
owner did not properly exercise the car (ie it wasn't driven hard), and hence
there were significant carbon deposits in the cylinders. Once the car was
driven hard the deposits were loosened and cause the failure. The second
theory is that there was an ECU fault that caused a misfire. This was
thought o be the problem since there was a reocuring engine fault code that
THe mechanic could not get rid of once the engine was rebuilt. He replaced the
ECU and there was no more problem. Regardless, the engine has been
completely rebuild (pistons, new valves, new valve guides, timing chain,
ect, ect) and is now running strong. I have the receipt with a detailed
list of the items if you are interested ($8,000!).
