I have some questions about my 2005 Hyundai Accent GSi.

Today when I was getting ready to refuel the car I took off the gas cap and there was this noise coming from inside my gas tank. It was sort of like a hissing noise, and I put the gas cap back on and too it off and I could still hear it. I fueled up and then the noise went away, I didn't hear it the last time I fuelled up. Has anyone else had this noise?

I want to take out the stock deck at some point in time, and from what I have gathered it isn't very easy. Now would the dealer be able to take it out, does the dealers do things like that? If they don't is there someone that possibly could(a buissness) because they are a real pain in the ass.

I would like to put in brighter headlight bulbs is there anything that you guys use or would prefer. If its possible I would like a small tinge of blue, if not just white would be fine. I don't want the ricer bulbs, or HID's just want to change out of the stock bulbs.

Is there any websites online that just deal with aftermarket parts for Hyundai's, I couldn't really find any. I went around on some of the other forums and they're not alot of people in them so I didn't ask. If there is anything please post.

Any information would be great you guys, thanks

First of all, I wouldn't bother asking any Hyundai questions on this site. Most of the people here think Hyundai's are crap and not worth the time. Which is kind of funny when probably half of the people here don't even have a license, much less a car...

Anyways, try these sites:

http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/ - forum and parts sales
http://www.hmaservice.com - online Hyundai service manuals
http://www.importshark.com/
http://compactdivisions.com/catalog/index.php
http://www.arkspeedracing.com/
http://www.motorimpact.com/shop/
http://www.evofusionusa.com/TeamSR/
http://www.sharkracing.com/acecart/bin/shop.cgi
http://www.kspec.com/
http://www.hyundaiaftermarket.org/ - this used to be the best site for Hyundai tuners. However, the site owner sold his Tiburon and shut the site down. It looks like someone has revived all of the archived information from this and other sites, so you will probably find all kinds of useful info.

That said, it has been my personal experience that significantly modding a car is a waste of time and money. If you look at how much money it costs to modify a car, you can just buy a much better car that also has a better resale value when you decide to sell it. For example, if you get the itch for more power, and the Accent GSi's are pretty gutless, you will probably have to pay more to significanly upgrade the engine than if you just sell the car and buy something more powerful (like a Tib, if you want to stay with a Hyundai). But then you not only get a more powerful car, you also get the benefit of a much nicer car that handles better, looks better and will sell for more when you want to get something else.

However, if you are just looking to do a few little things here and there, or are planning on upgrading parts when they break or wear out, then modding can be cost effective.

i am going to be staying away from the engine mods, I just want to do some little things to make it a bit nicer. I've had engine mods on Honda's and I didn't have a very good experience with them.

Thanks rockym20 for the sites, and being somwhat blunt about everything else lol..

I've heard that the quality was going up, and I couldn't afford getting a Honda. I went to is(what I think) is the next best thing, I didn't want to go to domestic(also really didn't want to go to Kia). I already had a mitsubishi so I didn't want another one(they are good cars, just too expensive aswell). I think that its a good investment for the next few years, just got tired of buying old POS
that always broke down. The Accent isn't the fastest car or the best looking but when gas is over a buck a litre and my insurance is cheap on it, why not get it.

No I was being serious dj_rice but don't worry I didn't take it serious or anything. I ain't going to go all postal on your ass like others do when someone makes a joke againest their car. Everyone has the right to thier own opinion.

I know that most of the people on the board have Honda's or Acrua's but I thought that I would try and just maybe someone would have something to help me out. The little bit of info will do me fine for the time being, so thanks guys for the help.

the sound you hear when you take the cap off is just a little pressure being released from the tank...happens in every car more when its hot less when its cold.

taking out the stock deck shouldnt be too hard try www.installdr.com

and for brighter/whiter/bluer headlights try silverstars. you can buy them from walmart or canadian tire and they do make a difference and look quite nice.

btw nice choice on the car its a pretty nice car hyundais are pretty reliable i know a guy who drives a 87 excel and its still holding strong considering he doesnt maintain it.

the deck isn't that bad. you need to remove the heater and vent cables on the driver side, and then two hidden screws near the cup holders, and then the front panels pops off with a little pulling. if you buy another clarion deck it's a plug and play harness, or if you get anything else, you can just cut the factory harness and rewire it for the new deck..

only thing is the aftermarket decks don't line up perfectly so you either have live with it, or have it stick out a little.

oh yeah don't lose the heater clips, or your fawked..
