Looking for scary movies to watch. I just watched the Grudge and that was pretty damn scary. All most shat my pants a few time. I will never look at lil asian kids with bowl cuts the same way again.

If you are even the slightest gore-sensative, or even have a strong stomach "Hostel" will make you sick.

CHeck out the ring, if you liked the grude this one should suit you as well. A very good movie as well, not just a cheap horror flick. If you're after that try out the texas chainsaw masacre with beil.

Event Horizon

For a "scary because its so disturbing" movie: The Hills have Eyes

The new Amittyville Horror was pretty good. I thought The Others with Nicole Kidman was scary.

if you didn't see house of 1000 corpses you aren't going to like devils rejects. I seen both and loved both.

I totally depends on what kind of scary movie you want. Now a days it is getting a lot harder to scare people so directors and creators have to use the fear of the possible to scare people. No more, some guy haunting you in your dream, or a doll coming to life and killing people. Now there are movies like hostel, and saw, which scare people because there is more reality in them. I have always been a huge fan of scary movies.

But then again if you almost shit yourself during the grudge maybe something like.....

is more suitable for you.

The plot wasn't great, but a hell of a gore factor.

What lies beneath is a great movie. The best suspence/thriller I've ever seen.

The Shining takes FOREVER to get going, and once it does it's not that good.

For good scary movies, I'd go with what people already suggested: The Ring (American version is sligtly better) and Event Horizon are both great movies.

me and my lady friend went to the theatre to see it, half the theatre left when the guy got to the "town" and was stuck in the "freezer"

I dunno, guess it was just a bit too much for some people. one guy looked like he was gonna puke a few times

I'm a big horror buff:

The Decent - If you want something that is scary with a bit of gore. One of the better horror films in years.
Saw I & II - Inventive & gory.
The Hills Have Eyes - Disturbing & gory but not scary.
Hostel - Gory but not scary.
Event Horizon - One of my personal favorites, has a little bit of everything.
The Ring - Very good and scary no gore though. The Ring II is awful though.
The Rob Zombie Movies (House of 1000 corpses & Devils Rejects) - Are okay with some gore & disturbing moments.
The Shining - It's old but still a classic horror movie. The best directed & acted horror movie ever.

I have more in my DVD collection but that's what comes to mind in recent movies.

Dunno if it's out here, but watch Severance. It's a comedy horror, described as The Office meets Hostel.

It's possible. I hope he doesn't turn it into a total gross-out slasher flick. To his credit he is a huge horror buff so he may be able to pull it off. While I can see his first two movies being a turnoff to some people, they certainly were better than alot of the shitty horror films that hollywood spits out regularily.

^ ya man i didnt mind his previous films at all, and he seems to create a cool creapy vibe in all his flicks. I think he will probably do a good job on the haloween movie. Will hopefully be a little better then the last 2 anyway.

Just rented Haunted Highway. I give it a 2/10 very bad flick. Very very poor attept to make it a jump horror.
